Collected bike Tuesday, rear ended at a red light Friday :anger:

Non-fault claim, they're taking the bike away for repair. I had next week booked off for a trip :blast so frustrating.

maybe believe in destiny, trip maybe have been worse, look like rear is twisted, or maybe camera

Bike feels sound and true, rode it home. So hopefully just a new cylinder head, left crash bar, number plate and mud guard thing.

Structural integrity, ain't what it used to be

No way a write-off. I was rear ended at about 25-30mph on my hexhead, the rim was fcuked, but the swing arm and FD were fine.

Wrist was fcuked too...

That was a Hexhead..................we'll see what the insurance assessor and BMW dealer say about the 1250, shall we ;)

Is it still the case that if you have an RTC within a specific time frame, (which escapes me) after picking up the vehicle you are entitled to a like for like replacement.

I personally wouldn't want that back whether it was repaired by BMW or not.

The two set up's aren't too dissimilar - apart from the side the wheel mounts on.

If there's nothing bent or cracked on the rear swingarm side im sure it's going to be fine and I cant see any issues with the bike myself. Although enough to jerk me forward and knock the bike over it wasn't an overly heavy impact

Me neither
Push for a write off and get another new bike FOC
That’s what the car driver’s insurance is for

Gutted for you.
Hopefully repaired quickly and you're back out again

Got rear ended by an RT in France (don't ask !!) a couple of years ago at low speed. Bike looked fine & felt fine riding it around Spain for a week & back to Cherbourg. Went to the dealer upon my return & the rear subframe was twisted. So either I'm a riding god or a numpty who has no 'feeling' on a bike, I'll let you guess :augie

Anyway, my point is get it properly checked and, if you can, hold out for a new bike....

Hopefully the subframe is not twisted as under the newest insurance damage classification rules it is classed alongside a twisted chassis on a car and becomes a write off
