Italian lakes...

And, sadly, the motel lived down to my expectations.
All they offered, despite advertising a restaurant, was a fixed menu fixed price meal.....a salad of leaves and a few cold potato chunks, beans and mayo, followed by plastic ham and chips....23 SFr. Shite
Compounded by the fact that Petes salalad came with living protein.

Dont bother stopping here folks.

We'll see what breakfast has to offer.

Nice view out the room though...

A motel? Must have looked gòood online. Hopefully the drinks are better than the food

How long did it take you to ride down from the ferry Gérard ?

I can only offer the explanation that it was/is very convenient for the journey home.

We took 3 overnighters; 2 in Germany and one in Switzerland on the way down ....could probably do it in one less but didnt want to turn a holiday into a penance!
We are doing one more night on the way home, in order to go up the length of the Black Forest on our way home.
The hotel/ motel is fine...the rooms are good etc. Its just the grub; in fairness they do say that they are restricted in what they can offer due to Covid and I imagine there are alternatives for food but not if you have to get kitted up and go by bike.

I'll try and do better

.

Ok thanks. Looks a nice place to visit.

And breakfast was a fail.....

Part of the problem is we have been spoilt by the places we have stayed thus far.......I suppose it filled a need, but that was about it.

Beautiful day, so over the San Gottard....loads of pix which will need to wait until some wifi...

That was up to lunchtime.

Thereafter the traffic jam from hell. Over an hour to cover 5k. Finally into Baden and then pretty countryside, until we got to our next overnight in a village called Villigen. Hotel zum Hirschen , which I believe translates to hotel of the stag? Very appropriate. Bit quirky...our 2 rooms turns into a 2 bed-roomed apartment with 2 bathrooms, kitchen sitting room separate from the main hotel. Meal booked for later...time will tell....

It was great to see Jim last night and enjoy a ride over the Gottard with him....quite the spritelyist 85 year old I've ridden with! After the Gottard he peeled off to go over the Susten(now open)(2 degrees at the top!) to travel home to Lausanne. Great to catch up!

A very satisfactory choice..

Back on form...nice rooms in quirky old building, excellent tea and lovely staff...all good

I am enjoying yer trip vicariously Gerry .
Looks good :thumb2

After a decent breakfast we trundled north, over the Rhine and into Germany and the Black Forest.
Our route took us through a tremendous variety of scenery up onto the plateau. The day started bright and sunny but got a bit overcast, a few drops of rain but nothing to warrant oilskins.
There are speed restrictions on much of the B500, but to be honest, it was a bimbley sort of day, admiring houses, window boxes, cuckoo clock shops and spotting deer...saw both roe and red. We saw no evidence of any enforcement activity, other than fixed cameras and kind Garmin gave us plenty of notice of them.
I have been in bits of the Black Forest before but never seen so much of it before.
Must return.

Wifi in the room not keen on uploading....I'll try again downstairs.....

Hotel Rebenhof, Neuweier just outside Baden- Baden is right up my street. Lovely room terrific view from my bed across the Rhine valley away to France and the Vosges in the distance. Surrounded by vineyards and a lovely location. Good oh!

And now they load....
