I won't bore you with the details, but having had numerous problems with a newly purchased 2013 GS W/C TE I vowed I would never own another GS. Move forward 5years and I now own a 2016 GS TE Triple black after swapping it for my 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200. The swap allowed me to keep my lovely Griso which was going in P/Ex against a new V85.
So, what's the conundrum ? Well, bearing in mind this is all my own opinion and feelings.
Triumph 1200 engine, much nicer and much more powerful than the GS engine.
Gearbox, incomparable. The GS gearbox just couldn't be compared to the Triumph gearbox and the quickshifter is an absolute gem.
Handling, the GS pips the Triumph at slower speeds, say upto 50mph but at higher speeds the Triumph feels much more sure footed.
I could go on , and in most area's I feel the Triumph is slightly better than the GS including the finish.
So why, why, why, do I enjoy riding the GS so much more than the Triumph. As I said, it's a conundrum that I can't really get my head around. But I'm so pleased I decided to swap the Triumph for the GS to enable me to keep my Griso.
