Well my GSA arrived this morning... :clap

I was going to pick it up and ride it home but I'm down with a cold... poo!!

Anyway it looks great in the garage :) can't wait to go for a spin, hopefully tomorrow.

Obviously I went for a white one as they're the fastest :augie

Couple of question:

1) should I be using ACF 50? and if so is there anywhere I should avoid applying it?

2) Does anyone have experience of the ILMBERGER CARBON FIBRE HUGGER ?
at £185 is it worth it?

Rich (sitting on my GSA in the garage with a lemsip... Brrrmm Brrrm :) )

Rich, ACF 50 is good stuff, but alot depends on whether you intend to leave it mucky ;)

I tend to wash the bike down if its been out in inclement weather.. its only the salt that will do it damage, and a hose down with cold water is the best thing to stop that...

Enjoy the new bike.. even if its only in the garage :augie

Bryn :beerjug:

Streaky... just seen your bike on another thread, hugger looks fab... any tips on best place to buy?

Bryn, no I wouldn't put it away dirty, so I guess you're right... cold water it is....

thanks for the advice both....

Nice one! Mine came last Friday although it's not actually registered until December the 1st, I just didn't want it hanging around at the dealership so it's safe in my garage to :D

Was thinking the same thing about ACF50 - should I get some? From the comments just made I'll probably just wash it down after use and liberally coat in GT85.

Similarly, it's only done 4.1 miles (completed during the PDI) and it's quite surprising how mucky it looks so was also thinking about a hugger and fender extender. Probably prefer to keep a more OEM look though and stick with something that matches the plastics on the bike - any suggestions?

There is a scratch in the near side aluminium pnnier but that's going to be swapped out at the 600 mile inspection - other than that all's well :thumb

1) I've got AFC but don't really use it as I don't leave my bike dirty. I generally use the scottoiler stuff sprayed on after use / washing.

2) Can't advise on the hugger, but you may want to consider the Wunderlich internal fender as an alternative.

Enjoy the bike when you get out on it. Just put 500miles on mine in the last couple of weeks. Will hopefully have the 600miles done by tomorrow.

Preservation!!

Scotoil Fs 365, wash ure bike give it a good coating of this stuff and it'll stay mint:thumb2, my 05 1150 Adv is cleaner now after 17000 Mls as when i picked it up new from the dealer. Get some:bounce1

05 1150 Adv..........

Hugger

R1200GSA only,

Ilmberger mk2 will fit but fouls the pannier rail mounts on the adventure, I know cos I have had both mk1 and mk2 on the bike.

Mk 2 would have destroyed its self if I had left it on.

Now use the mk1, not as good a mounting system but it does not foul anything and works well.

ACF50

I use acf50 but i tend to leave my bike dirty for weeks at a time as i use it as my main transport and dont fancy washing it when i get home from work every time the weathers sh*tty. Spray it into a container and paint it on, it's a lot less messy than spraying it everywhere. I'd pay particular attention to the fork brace and front of the engine, classic bwm weak spots, seems to work ok on mine no corrosion visible when it does eventually get a wash :thumb2

I think the hugger may foul knoblie tyres like TKC80's - so if you fancy serious off roading it may be money wasted!

Happy riding though!

Damn!!

Bu**ger, ordered the hugger this morning from Nippy Normans.. then noticed your post Kenny... :(

Rang NippyN who said it will be ok, however having looked at the bike when I got home I'm thinking NO WAY... Nippy N also said theres a bracket that will sort this out... but I can't see how?... I'll start a new thread in the GS1200 section...

Damn, hope its not £185 down the drain!!

After 2 month wait, my hugger arrived at the BMW dealership (Ilmberger ), and fitted yesterday, as per their instructions, with no problems. The hugger does not foul anything, does not rattle, has clearance around the tourances on my GSA spoked wheels, in fact it fits perfectly. At the lower front end, near the swing arm, it has a rubber nipple, which rests against the swing arm, presumably to stop any chance of rattling.

Very pleased so far :D

Rubber nipple GONE... now rattles. That didn't last long did it ?
:D
