Went down to Wollastons today to collect the 1200GS.

The weather was incredible, lightening, monsoon rain like stair rods!!

The workshop was flooded!!! :eek

Anyway couldn't wait any longer so took the plunge and rode the storm back to Coventry.

A lovely bike, better performance, nice riding position, massive weight loss and lovely and smooth...well compared to the 1150.

The only thing thats annoying me is the seat. Mega uncomfy!!! Tried both positions, don't like the low as it pushes you in to the tank so tried the high which is the right height but still tips you forward.

By the time I'd got home I wanted to get off as my arse felt like it had been tampered with!!!

I feel a trip to Melvyn hunter coming on to sort my seat, level it off to reduce the slope and insert the gel pads.

Screens not too bad as standard but far from perfect so I'll wait for the Nippy Norman wide and slightly taller screen to arrive.

Overall I'm very impressed although its going to take some getting used to as the 1150 gave you that planted to the road feeling where as the 1200 feels so much lighter. :thumb

Anyway I'm off to soak my arse in the wife footspa!! :mooney

The seat defo. improves as it/your arse breaks in :D Have no probs with mine now and personally like the canted forward position as it loads the front end more and suits my riding style.

IIRC I'm sure a few people have mentioned on here setting the front seat adjuster to high and the rear one to low if you really can't get on with the riding position.

Enjoy the new bike :thumb

Yes front high and rear low on the seat sems to be a bit better...thanks for that :thumb however It's nowhere as near as comfortable as my old melvyn hunter seat on the 1150 so I think I'll get it done in the next couple of weeks.

Seat

As above give the seat time l nearly bought another seat after first long run 2500mls then it started to get better. In the end very comfy

Congratualtions.
The ONE feature of the GS that I never got on with was the seat. It did, as suggested, get better as time went on but I suspect that the basic ergonomic of having all of your weight on the base of your spine is not good. I prefer sports bikes and find them more comfortable.
However, the other facets of the GS will overcome and I am sure that you will find what a brilliant bike it is.
I live in Coventry, so if you need any help please feel free to call me.

It sounds like you have the same problem I do with the seat, namely that it rolls you forward to much.

First, try putting the front on high setting and the back on low setting. That's an imrovement but will only get you up to about an hour before it's uncomfortable.

Otherwise, buy a sargent seat from nippy normans. I did five hours in the saddle on sunday and was still comfy when I got off.

Had my seat 'Melvined' and I am very happy with it.

My seat is deff a bit better after 500 miles, so hold off I'd say. I like the way the seat tips you forward slightly tbo, especially with my daily commute being 20 miles very twisty B roads and 10 miles semi urban/city traffic. I think it helps the bike turn in quicker and keeps the front end planted. So hang off (literally) on a new seat, and stick yer leg out a bit :D ;)

If your planning on 200 miles per stop though, then ouch!! :D
