Its time for...

nice pics jock btw what is your final verdict on the ADV mines due next tuesday

We decided to complete the loop at the top of Inishowen rather than go back the way we had come. We even found a bit of Donegal piste which led down to a lovely quiet cove & a couple of holiday homes. A beautiful spot in summer ;) but pretty bleak & desolate in winter :(

Then it was off to our B&B in Culdaff where we were meeting up with Sugarcube & Rampant Stallion (aka Brian, the Welsh tosser who had kept us in one piece in Morocco). They had spent the day getting sunburnt at the NW200 & had come to join us for the evening

We found a sheltered camping spot for them beside the sea before heading out for a well deserved dinner & a few drinks. Once the music started in the pub we could no longer hear each other & beat a hasty retreat to our various (own) beds.

A good nights sleep was had by all (not surprisingly) but we woke to find the rain had finally caught up with us :( . After a not very nice breakfast :barf we got the first ferry across to NI & headed via the north coast towards Larne for Brian’s ferry across the Irish Sea. His Dublin – Holyhead boat had been cancelled :spitfire so he had to go home via Scotland. The weather on Sunday wasn’t anything like in Tuned’s pics on his NW200 thread but it was still a nice run. After a stop for tea & cigs in Carnlough we deposited Brian in Larne just in time for his boat. Then it was on to Errol’s house where the long-suffering Emma had prepared a roast for our Sunday lunch. Despite being stuffed to the gills we had to help Errol demolish a strawberry pavlova – it would have been rude not to :D :D

From there it was a short run to Belfast & the motorway home. We stopped briefly in Balbriggan for some juice (despite the onboard computer telling me I had over 200km of fuel left to cover the 90+km of motorway by the time I got to the Balbriggan turn off there was only 10km left – obviously the high speed motorway running is harder on juice than I’d previously realised) & then Marcus and I parted company at the M50. He went straight into town while I took the M50, N/M7 home.

In all we did 1250km in less than 48 hours, about a third in cracking conditions  & the rest in the wet :( We were tired but had had a great weekend & it was all in a good cause. Now I just have to collect the money I was promised & its ‘job done’ until next year :thumb
I'll just leave youse with a calming reminder of summer :

I purposely haven’t posted any thoughts about the GSA ( ) as I feel that deserves a separate write-up – for those who aren’t yet sick of my wittering on ;) – so I will try & do that before the weekend.
