Ok North Westerners, it's the Wirral Egg Run this coming Sunday 17th April...........
So far the weather forecast looks good so it's expected that big crowds will line the route to watch the thousands of bikes ride by.
Once the melee of the run is over, it's down to The Tap at Eastham Ferry for an afternoon of rock music, with five of the best bands in the area playing tunes into the evening.

I'll do the run on my airhead and will do the music on the ale, once the bike has been deposited home first......
Hopefully I'll see some of you there.....:thumb2

Timpo.

Health and Safety...

...insist on him using Hi Viz so he's having a luminous bunny suit made; his tailors' been dwelling on his inside leg and now there's delay. :augie

I'll be going with G Force on t' pillion.

We might be going for a bimble after but we'll pop into the Tap for a visit :beerjug:

Catch up with you at some point during the day Timpo.

Lynchy :D

The Tap is going to be very very busy on Sunday :clap

Careful, Henry Mawson hangs out there

Really Kenny, lol.
Yes i shall be there as i've adopted it as my (un)official leaving doo before leaving for pastures East on Wednesday. Easily identifiable- stocky, bald, bladdered. Oh and probably sporting LOUD trousers.

Henry

Well, I Didn't See Him.

Tarka that is: I suspect he flounced because Bay Watch Brogan was chosen as the lead rider this year and I couldn't find a Ural Combo anywhere.

There was lots of other stuff about though:

K2924, in the background, was ridden to the start line by this fine chap:

It's not the real Michael Winner but he has owned the bike for over 30 years and tells me it was built in 1914 (I think that's what he said), and he also owns two Brough's, as well as AJS's, BSA's, etc, in fact a fleet of bikes with a waiting list of those who wish to ride them.

This arrived quite late for the 11:00am start but managed to push-in to the front, and rightly so:

Again it was piloted by a salty old geezer wearing his Dad's clothes.

There was lots of classic bikes on show. I suspect most of these are only run a couple of times a year to preserve their original equipment although I suspect the exhaust system on this one has been replaced:

The Triumph gang stayed together and seemed to keep themselves to themselves :comfort:

All era was catered for and the yellow one is what made me want a motorcycle:

I don't know what this is but I wish it had been my learner bike. A KMX125 was okay but this is a racers' learner bike for sure:

When I was a lad, my mates big brother spent the best part of a year in a wheelchair because of one of these:

These are just two examples of the many airhead boxers I spotted but I don't know what the black one is:

Speaking of Boxers, obviously there were several examples of synchronised parking and riding of GS's...unfortunately I ruined the riding pictures by not paying attention to camera settings. They were adjusted by operating with gloved hands.

And finally a 1200 rider standing on his pegs :blast

Overall it was a good ride out, and the curry and chips at Clatterbridge Hospital was worth the effort of 20 miles in 2nd gear, mostly, and of course the donations made for some children, and adults, with greater needs than ours. It felt like I hadn't been with as many motorcyles in one place since Foggy was doing the business in WSB at Brands Hatch in the 90's. :clap. I met riders from as far away as Warrington...and that's saying something about the UK's rights of freedom laws. :D

Good few hours entertainment....was very busy in Hoylaye !!!
Wifey about to set out for her first trip of the year.....crappy pics but you get the jist :)

Good one Kenny, we were up at 6am! intending to go but such a lovely day and the thought of riding in a traffic jam changed our minds, had a great time last year though:)

Tarka was actually with Glambabe at the Vintage Motor Scooter Club`s annual Vintage and Custom Extravaganza in Ryton-on-Dunsmore near Coventry.
Looking for parts and advice prior to the mega restoration and rebuild of my 1958 LD150.

I don't know what the black one is:

It`s a Dnepr.
Sometimes erroneously called a Dneiper.
Occasionally along with Urals totally erroneously called a Cossack ... that just being the SATRA importer`s generic tradename for all the Soviet bikes they brought here in the late 1970s/early 1980s.
Note the term 'Soviet' as they weren`t all from Russia (which the Ural was and still is).
The Dneprs were made in the Ukraine.

I have never been before and thought I'd give it a try as I was off work today.
Really enjoyed it. It was a good day out.

Glad to hear all's well.

Thanks for the info and very informative. I hope you found what you were looking for but I haven't got an effing clue what an LD150 is?

I still think you should have taken your place at the lead of the procession: you know it's your destiny.

An LD150 is an early Lambretta....with a distinctive double curvature rear bodywork and two separate saddles, rather like on my Urals.

The Egg Run organisers wanted me to be at the front again,as the mascot, like the previous several Egg Runs and the Toy Run that I`ve done.
Sadly for them I found out about the scooter event a few months ago and the Egg Run bods only asked me a couple of weeks ago if I was okay for the run.
The scooter event won.

Understood.

When parts are available they have to pursued and aquired when available.

I look forward to seeing the Lambretta. There was a few a nice example of Mod'ish transport around today. I'm looking for something myself, at the right price with a worthy amount of reconditining work required.

.

Hard to believe I know, but I nearly bought one of those as my first bike after riding one when I was 16:D:eek:...my Dad talked me out of it.
