Thanks to Sir Jackie Stewart....

I had an appointment with someone in Edinburgh Prison this afternoon. Papers to be signed which would expedite his court procedure and possibly result in him being released from remand custody.

On arrival I was told that he couldn't see me cos Sir Jackie Stewart was doing a talk and presentation in the prison gym and "client" had opted to attend, rather than see me. "He said you've just to make another appointment", said the Prison Officer. That wont be tomorrow or early next week cos I'm busy....

Must be great to have so many options for your afternoon. :D

While I've been away wasting my time driving to Edinburgh and back, I've missed a further 4 or 5 pages on the Marj v Kaister spat :Motomartin Good job "client" didn't know about that or he might have opted to also ditch Sir Jackie in favour of an afternon on the prison library internet.

I've been stood up before but never for someone as famous :ronno

FFS jist goes tae show how cushy they have it in the jail :nenau
Wonder how much Sir Jackie charged the taxpayer for the pleasure of his visit.Call me auld fashioned but ah think the fukers should be hung oan a nail fur the duration of their sentance:D

I'm reckoning that it was voluntary cos is he no' the patron o' a Dyslexia charity and I think ity might have been that....

FFS his time would be better spent on here :D

Yer right Ronno, he is involved with Dyslexia Scotland and other august charities supporting people with learning difficulties.

He was also a major force in getting the teacher training at Aberdeen University to include training in identifying dyslexia and other learning difficulties at an early age.

It is appropriate he was visitng a prison as often learning difficulties are a contributary factor to people getting involved in crime as they are often pushed to the edges of society by poor scool performance.

You were stood up for an important fellow.

I'm well aware of that. :D

In all seriousness, the guy I was seeing has real probs in reading and writing so he would have been encouraged to go. Hopefully his spell inside will have done him good. It's his first time and he hates it cos he's been getting bullied.
