I've just been Hilltopped and here are the results below. They won't show you how good it now feels to ride though. Worth every penny :thumby:
9500 mile 2011 GSA, standard decatted pipe and standard silencer, standard paper filter, Motul 5100 10-w40 semi-synth oil, super unleaded fuel.

Standard Map

New Map

Before and after

Through the gears

On the dyno

Before: 86.33 BHP - 72.22 Torques
After: 103.89 BHP - 81.2 Torques :D
(Disregard the figures in the 'through the gears' chart as they're misleading)

Had mine done on 4th July - has made a positive & significant difference; plus I've got cat free pipes/akra end can which contributes v nicely, and a QS which is tremendous fun!!!!!! :green gri

Got 101 bhp & 86 torques now which is shweeeet.....:clap

Is it worth doing with the standard exhaust?

I would say so!

The engine in standard form has very high air/fuel ratio (running extra-lean almost throughout).

There should be more power/torque liberated throughout the rev-range even with stock exhaust.

There is an element of "self-learning" in the remap, which should cater for some mods in the future (aftermarket can, K&N filter etc).

The OP's bike apparently has standard exhaust and air filter - 20% peak power increase and 12% more torque according to the charts. But peak figures tell only half the story - that torque curve has been lifted hugely in the midrange (3k-5k rpm), and that's going to be really noticeable.

Now seriously considering getting mine done some time soon.

Thats pretty much what Geoff at Hilltop said himself.
I'm sure that power gains would be more with different pipes/silencers/airfilters etc. but standard pipes, silencers and filters are good quality already and I don't have the cash for them.
Pound for pound, or pound for BHP if you like, I think the remap is a bargain compared to £1K for a new exhaust system that would only marginally improve performance.
As I said before, what the figures don't show is how nice the bike is to ride now, and better fuel economy as well.
Also, if I wreck the exhaust in a fall I can get a new one at a good price on ebay.

Hi Steve

If you don't mind me asking. What was the approximate cost of the re tune?

Mark

You could have omitted all the pics in the quote? :blast

Remap is £350 for UKGSer members

So they richen the mixture to liberate more power and it uses less fuel??? That doesnt make sense

My TC with Power commander / full shotgun akro mapped by andy/junc33 dyno made 110@wheel, graphs are on this forum somewhere ..

I noticed an improvement in economy only a couple of mpg must be due to the fueling been correct and not needing to open the throttle as much.

I think that's the gist of it. Of course, if you take advantage of the extra power all the time, you'll see worse consumption. But in the real world, the vast majority of riding is done at somewaht less than full throttle/max revs...

That's the dilema................

Power Commander + dyno run Is going to be more than a remap

Power Commander should be declared to Underwriters

BUT: Power caommander can be removed at resale of bike, and sold on for perhaps 50% of initial cost?

The remap will probably cope with returning stock exhaust etc, but there is no recouping of the £350 outlay (unless the purchaser sees the benefit)

All looks VERY good just taken the cat out of mine on Friday evening should have it welded up and put back together by this time tomorrow I'm hopeful that I feel a difference next stop remap:thumb2:

Power commander is not needed for the remap as its the ECU thats mapped at Hilltop but as you say the £350 has gone and its not coming back but I think it was still worth it with the smoother running nicer bike to ride.

Here is my map for a stock GSA twincam after remapping as a benchmark to see what other changes make
