There is a White f800 sitting in my garage.

Went down to southport area and bought it Saturday and drove it up to Aberdeen.

Very happy with the bike, getting use to the front end, felt it tuck on a couple of corners which dented my confidence a little. The only other thing to get used to is the slight jerky response to throttle.

On the positive note very comfy bike to do miles on, getting to Aberdeen on Sunday friend asked is I wanted to go out for a rider, I said yes as not even fatigued after 300 miles

Question how can i tell if i have a comfort seat as I am happy with seat compared to comment on this site. Slight ache after 100 miles but better than any other bike I have?

Also how can I tell if the bike has an immobiliser?

So hopefully me and the gs will have many happy mile together

Dave

Congrats on your new bike.

Per chance, did you buy it from a Harley dealership?
Bike done just over 2k miles?

It's just that I bought a lot of essential F8GS "bling" from a guy down that way!

If you ever fancy a F8GS get-together, say, Tomintoul / Braemar way, fire it up here. I'm near Elgin :thumb2

Many smiles with your miles

Hi Dave, well done fella great bike I'm sure you will have many happy miles :thumb2 :D

you will have fitted as standard factory fit an Electric immobiliser :D

"Question how can i tell if i have a comfort seat as I am happy with seat compared to comment on this site. Slight ache after 100 miles but better than any other bike I have?" I would say if your happy :D :D :D :D then enjoy :beerjug:

(its a personal thing for me even with the TT touring seat 2 hours is enough but with air hawk II :D :D :D :D :beerjug:)

If you look at the pics I posted today (Post pics of your F650/800GS), then you'll see what the BMW comfort seat looks like. TBH, I had no problems with my bike for the first month or so, then the pain sets in. However, I am a lardy bastard (proper tosser size), and my skinny mate (same bike) has no problems with the standard seat.

It depends on what you are used to,i had the 1100rt before my gs and i`m still getting used to the amount of dive i get when i brake, and thats after nearly 2yrs of ownership. As for the throttle just think about opening it and it will do it for you.My mate hated the "jerky" responce and tried to put me off buying it :confused:but i`ve never had a problem with it.Thats the problem when you let a gorilla loose on a bike:hapybnce:

...I had that jerky response give me a moment or two on my ride back from the dealer when I picked my bike up too. I changed the screen for a much bigger one and, might just be an impression but the snapppy throttle thing has since gone.....so have a few miles from my top speed no doubt. :D

Thanks for the responses

At lease I now know I have a immobiliser, I said I didn’t to the broker, don’t think id have saved much if I said it did.

I bought the bike private, had 2,300 miles for a June 2010 register, so don’t think it had the bling pulled of it.

Bugger don’t have a comfy seat, no problems as it works fine, From experience by back side hardens up to the travelling over the summer so sometimes think it is the rider more than the seat?
Was pondering if I could feel the seat a bit as rest of my body was so relaxed where as on other bikes my back or knee ache takes my mind of my back side.

It wasn’t the diving from front end that was the problem, when I a took a trumpet out for a test drive in the wet I tried to turn into a corner and the tyre didn’t grip until I scrubbed a little bit more speed of ( and yes I wasn’t entering the corner on a closed or closing throttle). This put a little doubt into y mind. On the run up in the dry felt the front wash out little on another bend mid corner and this spoke me a bit more. The corners we are talking about are 90 degree tight ish.

Think this effect and the jerky throttle is something I need to dial in to my riding style although I don’t think the jerkiness is excessive.

SteveT I am up for a meet some time, I am a off road novice so if you know any good fire trail up here I up for a play

Hi Dave.
I'll be popping through to Alford for the MC convention Sunday after next (3rd Sept. I think). Be good to meet up there and maybe plot up another meet / ride?
Just a thought

SteveT

PS - no mud @ Alford, unless your doing the Moped Marathon :D  :D

Good idea, forgot about the Alford day. Not been to it before but look good.

I am up for it, will start a new thread under the Scotland section to see if any body else wonts to meet up.

Should be a good day out.
