At least it feels like a new bike now that I've replaced both stick coils. One was badly corroded and the other had black insulation tape wrapped around it. Both were also marked 2003, so were presumably the originals. I've stuck some self amalgamating tape around both to stop the rot setting in, but 10 years is a good run for a part that gets hot and wet (!).

I also fitted an accelarator module and fitted a cat and stubby. I much prefer this set-up so far. The idle had to be reduced as, unsurprisingly, it went up once it had 2 coils working properly!

I'm just waiting to see how my petrol consumption is affected, or not, as the case may be.

I got a new bike 2

Swopped the standard 1150 final drive with one from an 1100 (33:11). Been out testing the bike for the last 2 days. Brilliant!

I don't get the judder when pulling away in first gear and in sixth gear I have enough power to overtake on normal A class roads, where before had to drop down to 5th, or even 4th.

Down side is I'll suffer if I do lots of motorway or autoroute, which I avoid like the plague, and shifting up through the box is quicker as the bike accelerates faster.

Fuel economy doesn't seam to be affected much (I'm measuring it) as I spend far more time in 6th gear, where as before most of the time was spent in 5th.

Now if only I had a 7th gear! :thumb2
