. . but it's 11.15 at night and I just realised I left the bleedin' Zumo on the bike in the garage when I got home after 6. And so I dragged my boots on and trudged out to the garage to find the wee bogger shining at me

Wouldn't have done my battery any good at all.

Must do better next time

Haven't you got it wired so that it only comes on when the ignition is on?

The Zumo bracket and spare power socket on dash panel are powered directly off the battery. I normally remember to take the Zumo off at night or when parked up in dodgy places.

I take my Nuvi off when I step away from the bike. However when I'm parking up at night I also lift the seat and pull the fuse out just in case it carries on drawing current. However when I did that yesterday I managed to drop the fuse into the bowls of the bike.

Might be able to get at it someday

I seem to have read somewhere that if a transformer is left connected, it can draw a current that can flatten a battery overtime.

I could be wrong, electricity is a black art I didn't understand.

My power lead has a little black box in it, I don't know what's inside but might be a transformer

All this taking the satnav off to avoid battery drain seems a pain in the butt when its so easy to power the thing via ignition controlled source. Then the problem does not exist.
