After waking up with my arse on the floor all week using two different airbeds with the same result (they just don't stay inflated fully all night) I've had it with airbeds!

What are you tossers using? roll mats? or folding/frame camp beds?

Thanks.

Quality self inflating mat, definitely not a cheap one as that has been your problem so far.

They are honeycombed foam so even if they puncture, you will stay of the ground.

Get a good one and it will be more comfortable than your bed at home.

Look for 2 inch upwards.

When you are not travelling or using it, leave it flat under your bed with the valves open, only roll tight for transit. This will make it inflate much quicker next time you use it.

Go to your local independent camping shop or Cotswolds (not that go outdoor bunch of tw@ts), you will get good advice and they will let you try in store.

Exped Megamat. Stays inflated and is just as comfy as my bed, which is pretty comfy.

Don't over inflate the fucking things then ! :blast

Make a sidecar like this, and you can bring your bed. :thumb

I got sick of them too and gave them up. I just use a half a roll mat now. It's not so comfortable but it beats whimpering in the night when the airbed sinks down. Again.

The best airbed I had was one from Argos - a backpackers one, but it only lasted a year or so. I tried the self inflating ones but they self deflated too.

I don't know if the blow up girlfriends have any more 'staying power'. Don't use a camp bed or you will lose your ruftytufty adventurer look and look like a Boy Scout.:(

You're probably over inflating it and or using shitty matts.

I've wild camped half way round the world for 3 months plus loads of long weekends over the last 2 years on an exped down 8dlx matt without any problems whatsoever and, may I add, I'm a fat git. NB: I've used it in my tent with a footprint (MSR Hubba Hubba).

I went through a couple of matts, Vango and thermarest and they weren't as comfy or warm as the exped, but they didn't burst. Lots of fans of the exped range, try one and you'll see how good they are. They're expensive but a good investment and its probably better than the false economy of lesser brands.

Ours haven't burst, they just go down slowly overnight...by 03:00/04:00 my arse is on the floor!..while MissB is riding high on her side of the bed and oblivious to it deflating slowly.

I'm confident I'm not over-inflating them, just pumping them up enough to suspend my body off the ground..it is comfy when we first go to sleep.

What a bout going to bed a bit earlier ? If you go at 8 pm you'll still get a good nights 7 / 8 hours sleep before they deflate at 4 am .

We were going to bed at 22:00 at the latest, and pumping it up literally just before.

It'd only stay up for 6hrs at the most...both ones we tried were the same. MissB is getting money back today.
