I've joined the family! Now Denali light options...

On this side of the pond, I have Clearwater lights, Darla or Erica as their not labeled that well it seems. I have the larger light of those two. This set also has the plugin module that allows you to control with the wonder wheel. I haven't seen this brand mentioned on this forum and I wonder if they are available in Europe.
But anyway my point is I had to turn them down to one or two out of ten for road running lights. They truly are bright for sure and one needs to keep them turned way down for running lights day or night. They do come on 100% when the brights are selected, and it is .... wow ... thats bright. When there set too high for running, they blind yourself off of the road signs and of course other drivers. With mine set on 1 or 2 I'm not getting any flashes from other drivers so far and they are quite visible to others it seems. I have the yellow lenses in. I wouldn't want them on a road bike, maybe some smaller ones .....

Please don’t blind all the rest of us road users. Things are getting crazy out there nowadays.

6 extra spot lamps on a bike seems a little bit OTT.
Agreed... I was riding in a group over the summer with a bloke on a GS who had 4xDenali or similar front spots fitted. They were really, really bright, and were annoying in the rear view mirror even on a quite sunny day. Christ knows what they'd be like at night. I even mentioned politely to the guy that his lights were dazzling, and his response was, essentially "That's fine, at least you can see me".

"Selfish twat" was my thought.

I struggle on unlit roads at night with my current 800GT, they are not bright and don't project far enough forward so things come upon me very quickly. It's not easy to read bends on unknown roads at any healthy pace.

It may be aided by poor lights but that sounds more like you're going a little fast for the conditions....dark, iffy bike lighting, unknown road, newish rider.

😲 I can assure you too much speed isn't the problem here,

Right now the only option I have is to scrub speed to ensure I'm safe

Probably best to slow down in that case.

Yeah, good advice. I'll probably do that in combination.
I'm trying to fathom whether you're actually a bot.......a little too much speed may be the issue, no it's not, but maybe, yes it is, erm, yes it is. I'll slow down. Weird

Hmmm . I'm not sure bots make subscriber payments to forums. But perhaps.

I just couldn't be arsed trying to make my point understood. I obviously didn't explain myself very well but all responses have been gratefully received and onboarded.

I was after advice on auxiliary lighting to ensure I got the balance right. Some use it, some don't. Some find it essential, some disgraceful.

I guess I need to make up my own mind with my original concerns for not negatively affecting other road users at the top of my agenda. The idea is to make the situation safer, not worse.

I guess also this question might not be the best thread for making the best use of the forum.

I looked into this previously and picked the LoneRider lights as they have an outside ring light which also doubles up as indicators, broad spread (lower 4 LEDs), narrower but further focussed (top 4 leds) and a central spot (1 lux @ 700m). And it only uses one channel on the hex ezcan, leaving 3 channels free for other kit. IMG_0545.jpeg

I had some knob head come towards me the other day on some sort of cruiser with one big main headlight on, two slightly smaller white round lights ( one either side of the big one ) and TWO pairs of yellow spotlights on. He didn’t appreciate me returning the blinding when I put my main beams and front fog lights on. Tuff shit. Ignorant selfish twat. :anger:

Cracking answer, thank you, the outer ring has good amber for contrast as DRLs without blinding and great main beam for when no other road users around.

Also leaves plenty channels for Nav etc. Dis you ho with Hex ezCan or other solution?

Absolutely the situation to be avoided. This helps nobody and only makes the situation less safe for all.

Bollocks to them.
If they think it’s ok to blind every other person on the road, then, in my book, they get back the same treatment. :D At least I turn mine off again after. They don’t.
I fail to understand how someone can possibly think it’s ok to drive round with 3 pairs of spotlights on plus the main headlight! They deserve a slap. Having that much light on defeats the point of trying to be seen. There’s that much light that you can’t make out what the vehicle is, how fast it’s going and where on the road it is.
The amount of drivers, in ALL vehicle types, that drive around with their main beams on is utterly ridiculous nowadays. They should get done for due care and attention because they’re clearly not looking at their dashboard.
If you want more light so you can see the road ahead then fine, have extra lights but point them down at the road and NOT in other road users faces. You’re more likely to get twatted off your bike because you’ve just blinded some poor fucker coming towards you.

I completely agree with you, my point was the third party was wrong and shouldn't have caused that situation. It's counter productive, at least it is to my concerns for safety and priority.

I bought my motolights as part of the preorder “kit” including under-nose bar and EzCan.

Get the LoneRider lights ;) Amazing how bright they are

If it helps, Lone Rider have a 20% off black Friday from Thu to Sun
Yes, I've now signed up to that, thank you. It does require that I fit them myself and I'm not sure about all the bodywork that needs removing to route cables properly but it would be a good exercise because I also want to run an android play screen for sat nav off of a can bus system anyway. But all in good time.

Have you picked up the new bike today? If so, how was it?
I feel pretty sure that there'll be someone off here who would happily give you an hour of their time to help you fit a pair of lights..(you may have to ride to their place but know from experience just how good many members on here are...John Tricket..RIP...you were most definitely one of them !)

Yes, I collected the bike today and I absolutely LOVE it. I was out for around 3hrs and it's so much more comfortable than I could imagine and just eats up the miles. Very relaxed ride, no problem with wind or buffeting on dual carriageway and even things like the hand protectors make it so much more pleasurable in the cold. It's a real dream.

I'd happily meet up with someone, that would be a great way to learn.

Thank you
