Jaca Spain need garage / battery

Hi all
I'm currently in ainsa near jaca and me f800gs is not starting, just keeps clicking as if nit enough battery power, I've checked terminals, ok.
So now I'm thinking battery not getting a charge or just kaput, be honest it was gradually running low before I came but I thought it was just lack of use.
Anyone know a garage or bike shop going west to Santander?
Tomorrows Sunday so I might bump it till Monday, pamplona might be my nearest big town but that can change.

Jaca is quite a big place, you should be able to get a battery there on Monday.

Hi,


If it is a clicking sound when you try to start it, it could very well be the bushings in the starter motor are worn. Try hitting the starter motor straight on with a hammer to get the bushings back into place or...........probably a better option is to push start it?

Thanks guys, visiting pamplona motorad tomorrow, get some prices, at the moment its starting via a bump, got orange warning, triangle in dash with LAMP, back on ferry Wednesday so another option is to run back to Santander for a night or two. AA from there and fix at leisure.
Tried the hammer trick, no good, I'll hit it harder tomorrow.

I doubt it's the actual starter. If you keep hitting it, you might break that also! Modern batteries tend to fail like this. They'll work fine, then nothing. None of the gradual tail off like batteries used to. Is there another bike with you? Can you try that battery. Unless you have a warranty covering repairs at home, a new battery might be cheaper in Spain

FWIW, my view is that one cell has gone down - the clicking noise is from the solenoid (responding to low volts) rather than the starter motor, so hitting the wrong thing will only cause twice the tears.
As a temp move can you get it hooked up to a charger overnight which will make best use of what you have?

(And how on earth do I know about these things??)

Well I bought a battery, which ran down, popped into motorad Pamplona, helpful staff, tested voltage, rectifier or auto knackerd, changed the rectifier still a problem so its the auto not providing enough volts to charge battery.
No euro assist but I've disconnected the lights and I'm just getting voltages to small charge, Santander today, worst case push on to ferry and aa Wednesday.
