jacking up

I currently use a bike lift to wor on my harley, as the frame rails are what its lifted on.
My question, is the bash plate under the engine strong enough to support the bike if i was to l put the lift under it?

Ive been wondering about that as well

the motocross lifts are as cheap as chips

The bash plate is held on by 4 x 5mm bits of studding sandwiching a piece of rubber.
May have problems if one or more snapped or stripped a thead.
The bike may also wobble a fair bit.What kind of work are you planning?.

I was just thinking about getting wheels off the ground for tyre change that kind of thing, just not sure if the bash plate would take the weight

The studs that are used to retain the bash plate can be unscrewed from the engine case, making for a relatively flat surface on which the jack legs can bear, as well as spreading the weight of the bike a bit more.

Moto x type lift

I use one for my Beemers with no problems
Have you got the gearbox "hardpart" on your 1100 Bowser?
it's the yellow part on Noddys above
If not, it's worth looking into, also the steering hardpart.
