You won't run short of nips in Japan. :D

No, sorry but I like my whisky to be the real deal. Japanese whisky just doesn't sit right with me cos it isn't Scotch and whisky by origin, is. I don't really care how good it tastes either.

I'd rather drink an "inferior" (;)) dram knowing that it was distilled lovingly in Scotland (probably in a distillery that's Japanese owned)

I'm not really sure what you are trying to say?

Scotch comes from Scotland, or whisky originates in Scotland :nenau

Anyway I got to try a few of the Suntory products when I was in the trade and I found them to be of superb quality. The ones you get here tend to be lighter and sweeter than our island offerings but non the worse for that :thumb2

So I suppose pointing out that whisky probably actually originated in Ireland doesn't help?

Brought my old man a bottle of Suntory from Japan, many moons ago - before I "discovered" whisky.......... :beer:

Had a fairly reasonable vatted malt from New Zealand a few years back - not bad at all :beer:

Ah, you mean whiskey? I'll pass on that, thanks (unless i'm washing my feet :D) In fairness, I've had a few drams of a rather palatable Bushmills whiskey which was very similar to Talisker in taste (to my palate anyway)

Scotch whisky (of the kind I like) comes from Scotland. Sorry if I confused my original post.

Whisky comes from Scotland and is usually single or double distilled.

Whiskey comes from Ireland and is usually triple distilled.

Japanese whisky is not to be sneered at, they have a culture that takes time to focus on insignificant detail (the Zen moment) and that lends itself very well to the creation of fine whiskies.

I have 85 bottles of whisky in my home and I have one Jap whisky. It is good stuff but my preference by far is for Scottish.

With the YOICHI 20 Year Old (which was the 2008 World Whisky Award winner) at £160 a bottle, I don't think I'll be trying it any time soon!! :eek:

You don't want to leave that stuff standing around - it goes off.

I'm not too busy with work just now and have some spare time and can help you out with turning yer stock over- you never know, I might just like the Jap stuff.
