I'm off to watch the Jerez MotoGP in May and wonder if somebody can give me information on the camping available at the circuit. I've looked back on this forum but the last discussion on the pros and cons was some years ago. I can stand the noise (ear plugs :augie) and have experienced camping at the last 2 French MotoGPs where for some reason the French love to hold the throttle of their bikes wide open throughout the night to get some nice banging and farting against the rev limiter - mechanically very sympathetic:blast. I shall be going to the French race after Spain.
Anyway, the questions are. 1. Is there camping available at the circuit? 2. Do you have to book in advance - if yes, how? 3. Are there basic facilities at the site - toilets, washing areas? 4. Any idea of the cost? - in France it is inclusive with the race entrance fee.
Alternatively, are there any 'normal' camping sites within fairly easy reach of the circuit?
As I am retired I am leaving in April then taking a holiday riding through Spain before and after the Jerez race and maybe a bit of time on the beach, weather permitting, before riding into France and up to Le Mans. Being old does have some advantges - not many though:rob
Thanks, any advise greatly appreciated. Brian

Thanks GS Tourer:thumb: I had found this but as you say it's 5 years old and I wondered if anybody had some more up to date information

Noise and banging ,,,,,,

As regards the above,,,, expect the same at Jerez - with knobs on .. Spaniards love their noise etc, go so far to say they bring bikes on trailers solely to rev up and bounce of the limiters all night long - they never come off the trailers, go figure ,lol.... Great fun though ,in my experience it beats all other GP meets by a long mile, youll have great fun ,dont plan on much sleep especially over race weekend . ITS MADNESS.
Camping sites are right by the circuit,, but dont recall how we booked it - but did it from the uk ...
Have fun ,

Thanks Joe, I can put up with the noise:eek: as long as there are some basic toilet/washing facilities at the campsite. It's the how to book bit that I am after, I can get there on the Thursday to get a space but I would really like to know if I can book in advance and how to do it. Thanks again, Brian:rob

Jerez motor gp

Hi, we went last year and, after considering the options, decided to stay in a small apartment in the old sector of Arcos de la Frontera. A very pretty town, about a 20 minute ride from the circuit.

This, as it turned out, was a wise choice, as the weather was cold and wet for most of the weekend!

Great circuit, great racing, and you'll be guaranteed a different winner, as Stoner won last year, you'll love it!

Enjoy!

Thanks Chris, I know that the weather:Motomartin can be pretty unpredicatble even in Southern Spain, but I do like camping and as I will be in Spain and France for a month I am on a rather tight budget. I was hoping that somebody had camped at the circuit recently and could give me the info as to whether you can just turn up or if a booking needs to be made in advance.
Thanks again for your advice. Brian:rob
