Thanks guys.............
Just to add some more detail. I'm not sure the idle is bad, it's the transition between throttle closed to throttle slightly open when moving slowly (low revs) thats snatchy. I have also noticed a slight serge when decending a steep hill in low gear with the throttle closed, with small poping from the exhaust pipe.
Again is this normal?

Mines a March 05 GS12 and had a new fuel map loded on at it's first service a few weeks ago, this was due to a 'lumpy' tick over.

The lumpy tickover has gone but other than that I can detect no difference to the fueling when riding the bike.

As the bike is shaft driven and fuel injected there is a very direct link between the throttle and wheel and therefore requires a very gentle throttle hand at slow speeds/low gears. Could it be that you still need to get used to this?

Mine also surges very slightly when coming to a standstill, feels like the brakes are grabbing/letting go a bit and suspect that is what you are feeling when decending hill - to be honest I've yet to ride a FI bike that hasn't done this to a lesser or greater extent.
