Just to cunfuse you even more heres my recomendations. Im from 'up north' so done a lot of camping /climbing etc. And a gadget freak. Been through a few stoves msr whisperlite (very fiddly and messy) but for general backpacking /touring not in high altitudes I would strongly recommend

Very basic, folds up to nothing and very secure on the ground ..... no chance of it tipping up like pocket rocket etc. also the pan set

excellent and bullet proof , itll last forever and the stove and cutlery/sponge/towel will all fit insde the pots . . good bit of kit.

We seem to have trodden a similar path - I am now using the the Coleman Alpine CPS Stove and it is all I could want from a stove. Packs real small, a very controllable flame with a huge range, gentle simmer thru to raging furnace. Gas lasts very well and very available. It replaced a MSR Whisperlite which was a bloody messy, uncontrollable bollok ache, all that fiddling about when all you want is a morning cuppa.I might have to rethink my strategy should I extend my travelling outside of civiliisation but until then

I also have the lamp from the same range, interchangable gas and packs down small as well. Top kit.
