Hi all,

Anyone got/seen Jim von Baden's R1200 Maintenance DVD?

I was just wanting to hear your thoughts. It sounds pretty useful.

Cheers

Phil

I have it for the TC. It's good, I doubt do my own servicing but could do a field repair with reference to it.

I've got it but never really used it. Whenever I do something it could help with, I just google for instructions instead as I prefer working from a series of stills and written instructions, often the best google hits come from Jim.

agree with dazlewis. His advice often saves time, but paper for me. Don't have the dvd but would still use it if I had it to get more tips.

I bought one, really good technical guide. Shame it's not HD though, the video quality isn't great. Worth the cost though.

Agreed. I have struggled with the video quality from the beginning. If you use a 10" or smaller screen it is pretty clear. The Wethead I shot in HD and mastered in a dual layer disc, it is considerably better.

I am always interested in hearing feedback, and feel free to visit my web site for free tutorials and PDF downloads of them for those who prefer stills.

Jim

PS I'll be in London in a few days. Looking forward to it!

Jim. Bring your umbrella . El Niño is working its magic over here right now .

And since recommendations are being given. If you're downtown and want some quality fish & chips, then I recommend The Golden Hind (73 Marylebone Lane, London, W1U 2PN). . Nice and central.

I'm sure you'll be spoilt with recommendations from others on here soon enough

I use the Hayne book of fibs but finding details can be annoying. e.g. the torque settings are in each section so a faff to find. When the going gets interesting it says go to your dealer.

I use Jims dvd for my 07. I started knowing nothing about a valve check to having it done in 2 hours. It is super useful. I think they are a must. I ripped it so I could put it on my iPad and I use that in the garage.

I am using the DVD for the maintenance of my 2005 R12GS. English is not my first language. While I can read and understand English pretty well in general, I found it much easier to see the tasks performed and verbally explained than only reading a manual.
The DVD, but also pictorials which are available on Jim's homepage, gave me the confidence to do tasks which I had not done on any vehicle before (valve clearance, rocker end float, brake fluid change with servo brake system etc.).
I am grateful for this source of knowledge but also also for Jim's kindness of sharing his knowledge and experience freely when asked as I am on my own for all work on the bike.

Hi all
I managed to damage the valve stem on the front wheel of my '09 R1200GS' I know expensive.
anyhow I have obtained a replacement stem/sensor anyone know the torque setting for the nut that holds it to the rim?
