Flood!!!!!

Text update from Errol................Sunday 8.55pm

Yesterday we were in Dakhla. We stayed in the same hotel. The Economic Minister for Morocco was staying there so security was tight. We had a plan to get up reasonably early to try and get as many miles out of the sick bike as possible. Woke @ 7am to find room flooded! I had left a tap on. fcuk what a mess. Put the "do not disturb" sign on the door and spent the next 5 hours sorting it out. Despite the security we managed to sneakthe 12ft square rug onto the roof terrace and dump it there. A largely uneventful days riding after that saw us arrive in Laayoune.

Sunday update

We left Laayoune today and have made it to Tiznit. Hope to be in Casablanca or Rabat tomorrow. Weather was good but its getting noticibly colder. We have heard that there could be snow tomorrow. Hopefully the part will be waiting for us in Malaga on Tuesday.

Marakech Monday night update

Left Tiznit this mornin a bit late as we have not had a day off the bikes since the 29th of Dec. Got the road tyres back in Agadir and met the girl who we met in Merzouga a week ago. She had a right laugh at our last 7 days. roads were wet and dangerous on the worst roads we have seen. We had to stop several times to wipe visors and lights on the way to Marrakesh. Stopped @ 1st hotel as it was dark and the drivers were nutters. Long ride of 225 miles - some of it at 10mph. Going to get some food. Not sure if we are up to exploring Marrakesh tonight.

Tuesday update

Yesterday we left Marrakesh and headed north. The roads were lovely. Lots of toll stops. Very annoying. Saw three lorry crashes. Now know how to ride bike in sand and runner beans! Stopped in Tangier as I was feeling like I was getting a cold/flu.

Wednesday update

Long story but missed boat. Now on Tangier to Tarifa one. Will be in BMW place late afternoon as long as everything goes OK. Bike very sick. I have come out in sympathy with it. Was in bed for 8-30 with aches and shivers. Cant wait to be home now.

Got a text last night from Errol :

Got a 2 star hotel in Fuengirola that is the same as 4 stars in Morocco. Around the corner is a restaurant , about to head there & get on road at a reasonable time. Bike now running well . Hard to get used to only having to throttle to get her to go !

They should make good progress now that the bike is sorted. The weather for Spain & France looks ok for the next few days - dry, if a little cold. :)

Photos from Sugarcube

I have just received 13 or 14 e-mails from Sugarcube each containing a picture. They arrived in no particular order so here they are in no particular order............... :nenau

Bike in BMW garage yesterday. Can you see the soot on the mudguard?

Met two a Japanese couple who had been on the road for 18 months on a
250 and 225. Picture doesn't do the size of the bag on the back any
justice.

We gave them our last bag of cloves for a bribe for the Mauritanian
border. Really nice couple.

Thursday update

Text update at 10pm Thursday night............

We left Fuengirola after changing Brians tyres. Managed to munch up 450 miles with the "new" bike. We avoided all the toll roads. Staying at a truck stop 100 miles north east of Madrid. Had to stop as my lights were blinding Brian. Will xhange them back to the normal ones tomorrow.

Believe me I wanted to stay too :(

Ah well, maybe next time - there were so many places & things that we didn't get to see in Morocco I reckon there's enough reasons to go back lots more times :D

Collected the moto from the shippers this morning - thanks again for arranging Aidan :thumb - was delighted to see it again. After spending so much time on it while we were away I missed not having it for the last week.

Mind you, its still dirty  - maybe Errol will give it a wash when he's doing his own ;)
