We received news on Friday morning that Jochens father Hans had passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning. He had only been in hospital since Wednesday night and we had already made arrangements on Thursday evening to come home from Romania earlier than planned, which worked out well for Jochen in the end.
Hans was the ripe old age of 89 but had not enjoyed the full of his health for quite some time, so although not completely unexpected it was quite a shock that he faded so quickly in the last couple of days.
As I write this there is no word on funeral arrangements, but I will pass on all details as I get them.
Given that Jochen has only arrived home yesterday evening and has a lot of things to see to it would be a good idea not to bombard him with phonecalls for a day or two.
I'm sure that you will all join me in offering Jochen and family our deepest and most sincere condolences.
