Anyone here with experience, good or bad, of John Clarks in Aberdeen. Will be buying an Adventure from them in July and would like to know what they are like for servicing.
Cheers,
Matt

Thanks Andy. First Impressions were good but I've read a couple of things here that suggest otherwise. Mind you Shirlaws always get slagged off and I think they're excellent.
Cheers,
Matt

£250 lighter in pocket

Well I had my GS serviced today ( a 12k service). Cost was just shy of £250.
Labour - £130.22
Parts - £49.03 (only filters and gaskets..!!)
Lubricants - £32.16

It certainly seems to run very smooth after the Scarver loan bike that I had for the day although the Scarver seat was much more comfy than the GS seat. I don't know how much the labour is per hour but it does seem a bit steep for a service. Nice cup of coffee whilst waiting to colleect it as it was over 1hr 45 mins late??

I'll take it on a test run to the Redgarth at Oldmeldrum on Sunday.

Have Fun

Andy,

sounds about right for Clarks. My mate gets his GS serviced there and consistently pays more than I do at Norwich. It's down to hourly labour rates - I guess they've got you by the short & curlies, as your next nearest dealer is part of the same group. That said, he's always been pleased with the standard of service he's received.

My 12k service cost about £215, but that included fitting some wiring, so £200 would've been closer to the actual cost.

Andy T,

I don't know if the parts required for the 850 at a 12000 mile service are different to an 1150, but Calterdons charged me only £27 parts - oil and air filters plus plugs. Labour costs were £147 though, so its swings and roundabouts here.

My total bill was a shocker though because I also had to get a new front tyre, and the brake fluid needed changing.

See you on Sunday if I can find the Redgarth

matt,

have to say i've been thoroughly impressed by john clark's, especially at aberdeen. mark in sales couldn't be more helpful (although you could argue it's his job).

top marks must go to craig in the workshop. not only does he know his shit; he spotted a defective gear lever from 10 paces and got it replaced under warranty.

have also found phil angus very helpful on the service desk.

just a pity you've got to wait 'til july!

Sounds promising Dave. Mark has been very helpful so far, got a second test ride this Friday, make sure the Wife is happy on the back, it'll be her tough luck if she isn't as I'll be getting the bike anyway! Spend most of my time outside the UK so that's why I'm waiting until July.
Cheers

Sales and service at John Clarks are top notch (at top notch prices). I had no trouble at all getting various corroding parts of the GS sorted under warranty, not too many sniggers when I returned with a dented mini 26 hrs after buying it, and have just spent 5 days away on Skye on a R1200CL courtesy of Mark's (in vain) attempt to sell it to me. And the coffees ok, too. Does feel like you're supposed to be in a suit when you go in, though. Maybe it's just too clean and tidy:)
