" Johnny "Aldy" Alderson died very recently after being diagnosed with Cancer..
Johnny was a keen GS 1200 owner and an active member of the UK GS re forum.
In his day he was a keen Trials rider in the North East centre.,
He was a good mate and he will be missed by many.
R.I.P mate. Steve."

So, so sorry to hear of John's death. He turned up a while ago at our GSers meeting and told us of the diagnosis. It's all happened so quickly that I can't get my head around it. In fact tried to ring him today. John was one of the best, always the happiest of smiles and a good word for everyone. A great biker and great companion. What a loss. I'll miss him so much. So long friend.

Very sad news.

I had the pleasure of John's company at many of our local GS meets & runs. Venue for our meets was quite a distance away for John but he was always one of the stalwarts no matter what the weather.

It seems only a few weeks have passed since he told me of his illness, tear in my eye then..tear in my eye now

RIP

We're both saddened and shocked at the speed of his illness, I never saw him without a big smile and his infectious laughter. He'll be a big miss to family and friends.

Seen it on FB, the sad news, a nice lad

Sad news:-( only meet a few times over the years but always laughter:-)

So sad, he was always so cheerful nothing ever seemed to bother him RIP mate.

Kind of puts life into perspective, we ride bikes to enjoy our lives and get more out of our limited time on this planet, then something like this comes along and completely undeservedly takes away that opportunity early.

It's sad to hear of anyone succumbing to Cancer, especially someone who shares our outlook on life.

I have yesterday had confirmed that I'm suffering from a lymphatic cancer, it'll never go away and will at some point need chemo but it is not fatal, so I count myself lucky - luckier than Johnny - and I'll continue to seize the days.

UPDATE

Seems like John died late Wednesday/early Thursday last. His funeral will probably be sometime next week. Any new information I'll keep you posted on this thread.

So sad.
I liked John a lot.
Seen him many times at Medomsley, or at the Wagon on BMW club natter nights.
RIP mate.

Aldy

So sad to hear the news about Aldy. I would often call in to the shop to be greeted by a big cheery grin and a bit of loud banter. What a real gent. He will be sadly missed.

I knew him more through trials, I was on a ride with him a year or so back on the GS's and we did some loose fire roads. I was following him and I remember thinking he's still fookin handy on the mucky stuff. Sad loss of a lovely fella.
