Can you jump start a GS with the portable lithium type power packs. I have used one in the past to start a lazy 3L VW touareg, but just wondering if they are compatible/safe with the GS electronics.

Thanks Casbah, what is the significance of the donor vehicle running?
Used mine today to pick up my new bike.
Worked a treat.
Epic day. Bike was delivered on Monday by courier, but due to the snow, only able to deliver to the local garage in the village. We've had about 12 inches of snow since, but today after the local farmer ploughed the road, there was a window of opportunity when the sun shone.
One mile up hill on packed snow and ice but made it. What a machine.
New bike and you need a jump pack?
Sounds like you need a new battery -
Mines sat for a weekend in -4 and started at the first prod of the button
A weekend. Lol
Mine sits there all winter and starts first prod of the button. Never been on an optimate battery is over 12 years old.

your lucky,
Been bitten too many times with fubarred battery's
First GS went through 3 before i found a good one,
my second gs only got the chance to non start once, - and i whacked a motobatt in it![]()
shame as i had an oddyssey sitting in the corner - which will fit as it turns out
Yep mines an oddyssey, it was as already fitted to my GSA when I bought it in July 2008. Motobatts on my tls's are doing well too.

pop the cover off and check how dry it is...
at 4.9 years old mine went downhill really fast... in the end couldn't crank the bike at all. knowing a bit of distilled water works wonders on old AGM batteries I thought I pop a few ml in each cell. Revived a 25kg merc AGM battery to as good as new with 60ml per cell, I put a bit in the odyssey and it vanished... in the end each cell took 140ml each !!! and just like the car one, give it 6 months and they come back to life as good as new....
2 years on it cranks the bike like it did when new and holds a charge for 3 months no issue
