Junk emails?

Was asked this today by a customer & I couldn't answer it?

Assuming you've got their address beforehand - is it possible to add the sender of a junk email to the junk email senders list before they've actually sent an email or do you have to wait to receive an email from them first & then add to junk senders?

MS Outlook BTW.

Add a name to the Blocked Senders List
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Preferences tab, under E-mail, click Junk E-mail.
Click the Blocked Senders tab.
Click Add.
In the Enter an e-mail address or Internet domain name to be added to the list box, enter the name or address you want added, and then click OK.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each name or address that you want to add.
Notes

You can quickly add a name to the Blocked Senders List by right-clicking the junk e-mail message, and then, on the shortcut menu, pointing to Junk E-mail and clicking Add Sender to Blocked Senders List on the shortcut menu.
If you have existing lists of names and addresses that you want to block, you can import the information into Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 by saving the list as a text (.txt) file with one entry per line, and then importing the list.
If you are using a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account and working online, you must be using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or later. If you do not know what version of Exchange server your e-mail account is using, contact your Exchange administrator.
To remove a name from the Blocked Senders List, in the Blocked Senders tab, click the name you want to remove from the list, and then click Remove.

I thought I'd have a look at MS Outlook on our PC but clicking on Tools, then Options brings up a pop up box. Clicking on Preferences gives to the option to "Change the appearance of messages and the way they are handled". Clicking on E-mail Options gives no mention of Junk Email? Clicking on Advanced E-mail Options also gives no Junk Email option?

Any ideas?

You may want to take a look at this free software.

Checks your mail at the server and would block/delete any spam mail before it get's to your PC.

You need to fill in the addresses that you want to block, but it will also flag up any addresses that are not in your address book..only when you are happy with the mail you receive then you process the mail and it will launch your e mail program.

What does "Help/About" show as your version of Outlook? What version does the guy use?

Next to the Email Options underneath "Change the appearance of messages and the way they are handled" I also, with Outlook 2003, have a "Junk E-mail..." button. TBH I can't remember at which Outlook version that option turned up

When Outlook mail arrives, just right click and mark it to be Blocked in future if you really don't want to receive from sender again. If you don't mind receiving from a sender, you can just mark it as Junk and Outlook will automatically route it to your Junk folder (system folder). You can browse the Junk mail you keep at your leisure.

You can have endless fun setting up Rules to handle mail from different people in different ways. Play tunes, use colours, pop up messages, route to folders, etc, etc, etc.

I used to employ a "lighthearted" rule (a reply) when I was cc'd on eMail but dropped it when a few too many people failed to see the funny side.
