from the weekend:D

Had a good couple of days out and about locally, on the bikes last weekend, enjoying the summer as you do :thumby:

Weather was great and some of the views on the Moors at this time of year are spectacular

Saturday, decided to head over to Jefferies to look and maybe try the F8 GSA T out

Had a good look over it, took it out for a few miles over and around Baildon Moor - nice bike, a few shortcomings and I think I'm a Boxer GS man, in reality

Some shots near Askwith Moor, on the way to AJ's, the heather is vibrant in August - first pic is looking back over Fewston towards the 'golf balls' of RAF Menwith Hill

After that I went a few miles to Nick Noble Clothing, in Frizzinghall to try a Shoei Hornet Adv and ordered one, lovely bit of kit and then onto Keighley to get some Enduro gloves for trailrding, despite all this mail order malarkey - I still prefer to touch and feel the products and deal with real old fashioned motorcycle dealers, bought some Fox gloves

Haven't done a Saturday afternoon, mooching around bike dealers for a good while:thumby:

The weather was so good and with no agenda, I took the 'long way home', via Bolton Abbey to Burnsall (not been here for a good while)

It was packed wi folk, enjoying themselves, great to see:clap

Having my head nearly turned by a newer, lithe and more nimble bike, full of of whizzbang electrikery - it was nice to ride this one home again, never failing to entertain

Deciding Burnsall was too busy, there was a summer wedding on too - with the bridal party adorning the banks of the river and assembled guests, I retreated to Linton and Grassington and onwards to Pateley Bridge

Taking the Gouthwaite road I fancied the tranquility of Scarhouse in early evening, which I knew there was a good chance that it would be deserted and by jove it was

Just me, the bike and the birds circling around overhead - bloomin' gorgeous laid on the grass in the early evening summer sun - just what summer biking is all about

After a while, it was time to head for home and carry on over Ramsgill Moor to Leighton reservoir and home

Just a really nice day on the bike, with no definite plan and great to enjoy summer's warm sun:thumby:

.............

That's one bit of Yorkshire I know very well, my ex's old man was, until very recently (and may still be actually, I'm not 100% sure.......) the main guy with the dog collar at Bolton Abbey.

A very beautiful part of Yorkshire :)

Sunday dawned, the same bright and sunny - so I headed off in another direction, the North York Moors to see more heather

I took a back road route, via Ampleforth and Nunnington, avoiding the main routes and up onto the Moors via Gillamoor

Some stunning views from Gillamoor church and atop Blakey ridge

Stopping in Castleton at the CO-OP for a bottle of water, I saw a GS PD Airhead, flash past...............a rare sight nowadays, in these days of the super fandangled modern bike and guessed it was was Fritz and Bev

I sped off post haste to Danby and spotted climbing up a sinuous moorland road to Danby Rigg and Beacon - aha I had caught up with them and once atop the Beacon we stopped for a chat and all decided to head off to the Whitby direction to the area known as Boggle Hole

Fritz had a ford in mind, which I had seen pictures of, but never ridden (I'm not so familiar with this area) - but the roads were lovely and I managed to stay upright

We cut back to another new stop for me Beacon Farm for an ice cream, after visiting the tourist hell that is Robin Hood's bay and then onto Sleights for F&C's for tea - before riding the esplanade at Whitby

Whitby Abbey, bathed in evening sunshine

Afterwards we re-traced our steps, back across the Moors via Kildale and to Stokesley

All in all, a cracking biking weekend, all on the doorstep and nice to share Sunday afternoon and evening in the company of good friends

You lucky man JB, all on your doorstep. Love the pictures, they evoke a sense of tranquility.
Julie and I are planning a couple of days in the Trough of Bowland next week an area we have never been to.Just awaiting replies on accommodation . :thumby:

Cheers Andrew

Peaks down your way are great too

Once away from the tourist honey pots it was tranquil sure enough

Why do people all congregate in one spot always baffles me

Enjoy the Trough - I was there on the trails, the week before last & it was glorious
