Just a little bit excited..

Excuse my ignorance

Mr Steptoe,

On one of the close up pictures there seems to be a metal pipe coming out of the airbox. Can you tell me what it is please?

It's the "secondary circulation system" - fitted to re-circulate and burn the exhaust gasses to supposedly reduce emissions. One of the first bits to remove in my opinion !

Nice

I think it's a beauti
Bet it would be great to sit down on a buffet and polish it back to life
Did you buy it or did they give it to you:beer:

State of those ratchet straps....mind you, in the context of what they are holding down, well matched:thumb

I'm getting worse than you. I've still got this sitting in the garage untouched, 30k miles.

.

Then there's my 5k mile R100GS.

And the 17k mile white GS sitting gathering dust

Must get a picture of my 1993 122k mile black and yellow R100GS, you'd love the patina :D

They're like buses at the moment, wait a long while for one, and anothers just behind . Got a call today to go and look at a 1989 paralever been sitting unloved for a few years, owner moving and is clearing out his garage so wants it gone.

some very nice machines:D
should keep you out of trouble for a while:thumby:

I've paid sod all for them so no money tied up. And i intend keeping them as part of my pension plan :D. So i'm in no rush to restore them :D

That's the trouble with you famous types... They all call you to lighten their biking load and you have to shake the piggy bank upside down for a few extra coins to help 'em out...:D It'll be like the comedy sketch of the arab family getting out of the limo (or some might say a BM dealer sales pitch:rolleyes:)... "Rare as rocking horse shit sir" and as it gets wheeled out of the garage, another one gets wheeled in...:D

The De Beers of the GS world...:D

This is true...
2 Moto Guzzi Lemons, Fant 900ie, R100RS, only the K1 has had some TLC & it's the worst of the lot. And the R100GS which is 1000 miles away in Italy gets ridden more than all of them. (Bar the work bike R1200 @ 98K)

Don't even mention the cars, trucks & my newest addition of my 308D van...which I drive around pretending to deliver stuff in. (At least the 911 is W.I.P.)

You ought to thank people like me who keep the prices at a sensible level. Not like the other silly berks who wade in and pay silly money for over priced airheads. :D

If no one paid stupid money the prices would return to a normal level.

Not what you want for your pension plan though, assuming you own enough of them already to keep you in beer during retirement.

I stared buying and storing bikes when they were so cheap you could afford not worry about having large amounts of money tied up.
All before ebay came along and put the kibosh on getting daily phone calls from people wanting to sell their bikes due to mechanical problems or light damage. Now down to three or four calls a year

The luck is in buying the right models, which time will tell.. My limit is based on the amount of storage space i have. :D

The G/S is a monolever, and the GS is paralever. G/S 's are the earlier models. Think that's correct?

Mono / Para

Look at the shaft drive.
Early = mono = G/S
Para - later = GS
