My little KTM had a rebuild and a make over after the last ride of 2015, when it developed a very unpleasant rattle. The big end bearings were shot, so it has had a strip down, inspection, fresh bearings and seals, con rod and new piston and rings. Whilst the engine was out I gave the suspension a service and changed the tired old orange plastics for some black ones. We had a ride planned a few Sundays ago, but some dozy bint knocked me off the BM on the Saturday, so I had to cancel with a sore arse. :-(
Managed to re-arrange for today though. Tim kindly offered to reaquaint me with some of the lanes I haven't dome for a few years.

Tim's bike can be excused, it gets a lot more work than mine!

After a couple of lanes to warm our fingers up, we stop overlooking Llangollen, and the downhill mountain bike track. I'm paranoid about every little noise, as the bike is not yet run in, and I'm worried I might not have tightened everything up properly!

A bit further and a bit higher and we can see some odd patches of snow. Tim expresses some concern about the other side of The Wayfarer, which quite often gets blocked when the white stuff comes down..

Starting to look a little bleak.

Tim is just out of sight, the track isn't too bad.

Through the worst of it.

Heading back down out of the hills for breakfast. My stomach was starting to rumble!

After a full English we headed further south and across the moors on some great stony lanes. I noticed Tim was pulling away somewhat, reminding me just how rusty I was. Made some excuse about running the bike in.....
A bit of roadwork was needed to connect to the next lane, where some chainsaw work had been done quite recently to make a path through. Cheers Timpo!

Looking back.

A little further on I spotted a damsel in distress, and lent her my tool. She was ever so grateful. And no, I didn't take a picture.

A great day for riding, great company, the bike behaved itself well, and justified its existence. Might treat it to a new chain and sprockets now!
We won't mention that gate though...........

Great day matey I really enjoyed it, only two mistakes all day, yes the gate:augie and no pic of the damsel :D

Blimey can't believe I'm considering having a go at the green lanes again after a 20 year Break !

Must resist ... Must resist ... Must resist ...

Awesome. Glad you had a good day. I grew up a just few miles outside Llangollen and spent many happy days blatting around many of those tracks on my mountain bike and old MTX50. Happy days.

PS you probably already know but there was some awesome riding on the other side of Llangollen. Up and over the Horseshoe pass and heading over to LLandegla and onto Minera etc

That looks familiar. Coming from Carrog you go up the mountain from the other side and then drop down onto a very rocky path. We were there with Steve Askin, James Berril joined us for the day. I'm sure Tim knows him.

I do need to get me sorted with a enduro bike. It is a lot more fun than road riding.
