Just bought aan R1150GS - any advice?

Bad luck with the breakdown. Hopefully you've had your share of bad luck now. These things are sent to try us...

You'll be grand once you get all that sorted! Tobinators and an Mra screen will sort out any wind issues you may have when you raise the seat height. Feel bad for you, so best of luck with it going forward!

I would check the plug under tank rhs which supplies power to the fuel pump, in case it has come loose?

ah just noticed it has been replaced...

my 1150GS has now done 83,000 miles... she is off to scotland in 3 weeks with me and the Mrs and still purrs like a wotnot! have had the odd little issue but when you get stopped in the street and offered lumps of cash to buy her there must be something in this 1150gs lark! enjoy!!

.............I've ordered a footpeg lowering kit and once I've tested that out will probably be looking to raise the seat at a re-upholsterers ................. . .

You do know that the standard seat has two height options Colin? At 1.78m tall (5' 10") and a 32" leg I used to have it on the lower setting.

Hi Packer,

Yes, I'm running the seat at it's highest position - still way too low though. Also the leg position seems to be angled slightly back, and that's causing me pain. The lowering kit should be able to lower the pegs and move them forward - we'll see.

If you can get one for the 1150, fit a Givi Airflow screen. Mines on a 1200 but its by far the best screen I've had on any bike.

Hi Bendy,

Yes, I had an AF330 on my 1200 (and winglets), but the Givi site doesn't list one for the 1150, just a larger screen. I've ordered a Wunderlich flip top from Nippy Norman, and I'll see what that does.

Cheers,
Colin

Did all that with a mint 1100 GS in kalahari a couple of years ago ,unfortunately it never fitted me sold it for a 1200 which fits like a glove .otherwise push on:thumby:

Oh deary deary me!

Bike died on the A45 just outside of Rugby - nice and dangerous place too! I was just running along in the outside lane at ???mph when it just died.

Left standing there for over 2 hours by the AA. 5 hours to get home on a Sunday evening.

Turns out the fuel pump just gave up.

I remain underwhelmed.

My advice. Sell the heap of shite.:aidan

Hi one bit of advice that may come in very handy.
If you lift the tank say to access the battery. Then just make sure when you set the tank back in place that you haven't pulled the right hand throttle cable out off its seat. The outer sheath of the cable get stuck and the extra 5mm will cause a imbalance thus resulting in a non starting bike

It's easy to miss and I spent two hours finding it thought the coil had gone at first.

Had mine 2 years and looking to sell due to moving house if I can work out how to place add on this site???
