Just bought myself a Mac computer

Well been looking at them for ages and finally took the jump and purchased a 27" Mac.

Bugger it's hard to get used to at the moment.

I've git a 1 2 1 booked for next Friday with apple in Watford so things may be a little clearer then.

Will I be able to download my Garmin zumo 660 bits onto it?

Any useful websites that are a help for a new mac use?

IME its simpler to do all the basic stuff compared to windows, however because its so simple it takes a while to realise just how easy it is for the basics!

Try this site http://macmost.com I learned tons of stuff on video tutorials on how to use my Mac... I've used A PC and windows for 20 years until I bought my Mac a few years ago... Best computer I've had and love it. Once you get the hang of it u wish u would have bought one years ago....

That's a very good way of putting it...........not long had mine and that has been slowly dawning on me.

I got myself a copy of My Macbook which has been invaluable in helping unlearn 20 odd years of Windows and relearning Mac OS - they should do a specific version for your Mac.

Among a houseful of macs my main computer is an elderly MacPro. I wanted to replace it, but don't fancy the new roundy roundy MacPros.

Turns out there is a vibrant market if new and renovated MacPros at keen prices.

i have a book - "Switching to the Mac" it's a Snow Leopard edition, but the basics will still be the same i would imagine.

You are welcome to borrow that if you like - i did think about selling it a day or two ago, as i've not opened it in months now!! but thought i'd better keep it just in case.

A little niggle is why my mac won't recognise my iphone as a device?? Ie I wanted to up load some pictures to a very known auction site but when I plugged in my APPLE iphone to my APPLE mac I could not find it... I am a new mac user so it's probably me but the transition over is a bit challenging at times

Are you trying to transfer photos from your iPhone to your mac? If so, you can use iPhoto, which will automatically detect the iPhone and download the photos to iPhoto or you can use image capture, which is in your applications folder. This Apple support doc has more info:

thats how it's supposed to work. iPhones and iPod don't appear as devices or disk drives like some do in windows.
