You’ve not actually read through this thread , have you !Heh Arsey they quite like yer new bike
I've watched several of their reviews when gathering info on new bikes, as many people probably do. Not them in particular but a general trawl of YouTube videos etc. When we first started the channel, I did things properly. I went around all the dealers, met the dealer principals face‑to‑face, took a portfolio of my work, explained what I wanted to do, and made it clear that I’d always run videos past them before publishing. I tried to be as professional as possible.
I went to A&D and spoke to Sally, the DP. She was perfectly happy for us to work with them. She did mention that Mr D and the Old Man had contacted her, but she was put off by their attitude — basically “lend us a bike, we’re a fantastic channel, you need us if you want to sell bikes,” that sort of thing.
Over the next year we reviewed a few bikes, including the first V7 850 vs Continental GT comparison, where we were honest about the pros and cons.
Then, while I was on a Euro trip with the lads, a mate back home sent me a video from Mr D and the Old Man. It was a full‑on rant about Moto Guzzi being “stupid” for not loaning them a bike and instead giving it to “an insignificant channel of know‑nothing geeks.” They compared their figures to ours, showed pictures of us, slagged us off, and even accused A&D of being a terrible dealership that was paying us for favourable reviews. They also said Moto Guzzi should deliver them a bike with a full tank and to use it for as long as they wanted.
I messaged them asking for a chat — they deleted the comment.
I messaged again, saying surely we could work together, especially as we were both in North Wales at the time — deleted again.
I asked them to take the video down because it was unfair and full of lies — deleted.
I emailed them multiple times — no response.
I spoke to Sally, who was really upset. I felt awful that A&D had been dragged into it. I wasn’t bothered about our channel — it’s just a hobby — but I hated seeing a great dealer being bad‑mouthed.
Moto Guzzi were made aware of the situation.Eventually we said that if the video wasn’t removed, legal action would follow. Within half an hour, it was gone.
Not once have I had a single communication from that cowardly pair.
Maybe this is a bit of karma. Some of you might remember the issues and warranty claim on the younger one’s V7… perhaps Moto Guzzi has a longer memory than they do.
It’s a shame, really. We were prepared to work with them, even alongside them.
In my eyes, though, the pair of them are pond scum, and without a shadow of doubt love themselves.
Sorry for the rant it still pisses me off every time I see them
They used to. The son used to work for Sycamore Harley in Uppingham (selling H-D T shirts) at the time I bought a Heritage softail from there.I thought they lived in Rutland
And yet "The Old Man" bought a BM R1800......decided it was not the bike to be riding in North Wales after a few months and then lost a shedload of money trying to get rid of it.Why would I want those two toffee nosed clowns telling me that the bike I’ve owned for three years is ok but not as good as a Harley ?
I’m assuming that’ll be the gist of it .
That's our Sally at work, she's a star. I'm pretty sure all of what Mike says above to be true after having a few conversations when I've been out and about and am a regular at A&D.I've watched several of their reviews when gathering info on new bikes, as many people probably do. Not them in particular but a general trawl of YouTube videos etc.
After reading this it's certainly thrown a different light on them.
If I could speak up for A&D Motorcycles being bad mouthed by them, I come to their defense.
I had first hand experience of a visit there in May 2023 as I accompanied FatAl of this parish when he was finalising the deal on a new Moto Guzzi V85TT he'd bought.
I was wandering round the showroom as Al was talking to a salesman Infront of the bike he he'd bought. At this point a woman member of staff who knew full well Al had already bought the bike walked over to the salesman and Al informing them MG are doing an offer of panniers free of charge to go with the sale. Wow I thought, because she came up with something that was a brand new offer and could have kept quiet she came up with the goods. Now in my book that is great service from a good honest dealership and I was impressed.
Conclusion...
This Darcy and the other fella sound a right pair of gobshites, I won't be watching them again.
