I got a key, with a chip, cut for my 2011 GS by a car key guy.
I’m sure an 1150 could be done by Timpsons etc but I’d go the car key specialist route.
Good luck whichever

BMW should be able to supply a factory one for around £27.

Buy a blank off eBay first fiver👍

I had the same with my 1150, bought a couple of cheap blanks off eBay and took to Timpsons on the high street and they cut them no problem. Think it was about £12 for two keys cut.

just been to timpson on the estate its £30 a key and £15 for the second key
Originally the 1150 GSA came with 3 keys when new
Where are the other 2?
no idea

Couple of years ago for my 1150 bought e bay blanks for about £3 each and were cut by a local place for about the same price each

Like so many other things... At the back of a drawer somewhere only to be found when you move etc...😉

Buy a blank to take in as they usually don't have a pattern on the stock...

Take the lock apart, remove all the lock plates, and then you don't need to get the key cut! :)

I had a genuine BMW blank from my R1150RT, at least ten years ago.
The recent GS project only had one key

I took it to two local key cutters who said they couldn’t copy the key as it wouldn’t fit in the cutting machine?

I had to find a specialist auto key specialist who cut it without issue, but charged £10.
I was too weary to argue 😡

related this this, many years ago, as a daily key, I used one of the two that had a rubber top on it.
This rubber eventually split and the keyring came out away from the key.
I had all three keys and another didint have the rubber around it, it was a T shape with a hole in the top.
I use that one now and for many years.
About all I have to add to this thread!

can i just go to a key cutter in the high street with my 1 key and get copies done
if timpsons can't Harrolds in Sheffield will
i'll spare you the anecdotes but they are good
I've had F650 ignition keys cut there and some for Givi pannier
all were fine
