Heading to Edinburgh with the Kids over the Easter holiday's. I fancy a visit to Britannia. Should I take the (nearly 13 yr old twin girls) and the son aged 11 or will they be bored outta their tree.:D Ta

My mate took his two girls (a wee bit older than your kids mind you) and they were completely bored with the whole thing and he didn't think it was very good or value for money either.

Some nice shops nearby though.

And you can see Fife from the quayside :thumb :beerjug:

Britannia is fascinating, I am sure they will enjoy. I certainly aint into the Royals but we really thought it was worth the visit.

As an alternative you could try a boat trip:

Fantastic views and a reasonably priced family ticket. It'll be one of those things that the kids remember. There are also a couple of nice bike shops in South Queensferry that you can check out while you are waiting to board. The Hawes Inn is also good for food.

You also have the added advantage of being able to see Fife, but you are perfectly safe from the locals as we have an unholy fear of crossing water :D

Not quite....we have Forth Gear which is an Aladdin's Cave of a motorcycle clothing and accessory shop and a branch of Girls Bike 2 which has never really taken off and is now only open on a few days per week.

The Hawes Inn is also good for food.

Again....the Hawes used to be good in the days when it provided real food and was a motorcyclists' meeting place in the summer. Since it became a Brewer's Fayre, serving cook-chill, globalised rubbish a few years ago, it's not really worth bothering about which is a shame for the Inn where Robert Louis Stevenson lived while he was writing Kidnapped. There are much better places to eat in South Queensferry.

I defer to Schtum's obviously superior and current knowledge. Shame about the Hawes, it used to be really good.

Ta Folks!. Looks like go to Britannia with the son and leave the girls to do a bit of shopping. Must have a wander round port Edgar (Formerly HMS Lochinvar) as well as I went on a sailing course there in 1973 as a sea cadet when the cod wars were on. Exciting stuff for a twelve year old!:D
