Great site you UKers got here. Been riding 20 years, just about all makes and models, my newest ride is a 1200GS my first dualsport. I just picked it up 3 weeks ago. So far I'm very pleased. I dont plan too many mods, but that stock seat has got to go !! I got the spoke wheels with Anakee's, again very pleased, at least on the pavement. They seem to lack quite a bit on the trail though. I must admit I was surprised at how quick the bike is, not R1 quick but enough to put a grin on this old face. The ergos are not to bad either. At 6'6" 270 lbs. it can be a real challenge to get comfy on some bikes. So far none of the various issues I've read/heard about, although I only have 1000 mi. on the bike. Seems like a lot of great info here and I look forward to tapping into it. And if you ever find yourself "lucky" enough to be headed through Milwaukee, Wisconsin (on your way to some where else of course !) drop me a P.M. and we'll get drunk ! Chief.

Hi Chief

hopefully you'll have trouble free riding on the GS, any potential problems will be listed here in any case... :) and welcome to the board... :D

Hi Chief
I fully agree, but I have spent enough on the bike and my wife deserves a new kitchen! I am happy with the standard seat on short runs but horrible for longer trips.

So I bought a couple of Airhawk seats(their cheaper version not the expensive neoprene versions) and we are both very happy with distances now
Bike now 4000 miles and running fantastic (was actually horrible when new- engine too stiff and needed a software update)

Love the bike, love the Airhawk seats and love my Garmin Quest. :D

Thanx for the welcome, and thanx to you Grinninggser for the info on the Airhawk. I have considered it as an option. Just wish i could try one out before purchasing. Any other mods that one would consider a must on a new GS ? I'm all ears.

New bits

You must get a reno oil radiator cover as its ace and cheap at 40 quid. I also got a fender extenda £17 from pyramid plastics and a carbon rear hugger for a £160 from sandgate composites. Both of these keep most of the shit off and look good. My bike has 1500 miles on and is just loosening up, which as you say makes the GS a quick bike. I for one would not sell mine. :clap :D
