Just upgraded, top box modification?

Upgraded from the 650GS (800cc) to the new 2016 1200GSA
WOW, what a machine!
Anyway, my top box is not a direct fit. Is there an easy way to mod the box to fit, because $615 for a new top case is just not realistic.

I don't think you can modify it. Unless you know a welder that can relocate the mounting points. eBay your old box, then get one from http://www.bmw-motorrad-store.co.uk as they'll ship to the US.

I used a piece of ally sheet to make a plate so that the top box mount from my old 2004 GS attaches to my current LC GS, so that I can use my old top box. It took a couple of hours of experimenting, cutting, filing drilling etc. but isn't difficult to figure out. You might be able to do something similar with the mounting plate from your 650. I used the same piece of ally to mount the old GS top box on a 2011 Multistrada too. A piece of 3mm alloy sheet from Ebay will cost only a few £s or $s

Most things are cheaper in the US than in the UK, this is an exception!

i considered modifying the previous box, but gave in and sold the old one on here and stumped up for the new one. Thats because I'm time poor and lazy, which is probably what most BMW owners are.
