....how long the battery life is on the 1200GS. Mines around 5 years old now and starting to sound abit sluggish on earlier morning starts. Replacemnet looks to be around the £99 mark..

Cheers and Merry Christmas

5 years seems like pretty good going for a battery that's, arguably, under-specced from new. However, you don't need to replace it with another AGM one. Yuasa YTX14BS does the job just as well, in my experience.

My battery had the good manners to die three weeks before the warranty ended. In a year's time (the bike being three years old now) I shall compare the price at Halfords (£60 when I last looked) and the local Honda dealer, whose batteries last 6 years on my sadly ignored Triumph. Under no circumstances will I buy the genuine BMW battery as it doesn't even last the warranty period. Oddessy batteries don't appeal due to the amount of cutting and trimming required to fit one.

05 1200GS, mine died last year and replaced it with Oddessy, starts first time every time and contrary to cutting problems noted above, (which do exist) I bought mine direct from supplier cut, trimmed and sorted. Slightly tighter fit but taking into consideration the power, mine runs aux lights, fogs, GPS, etc, no problems so far, good luck,

You've done very well to get 5 years out of it. Mine went before 3...

Oddessy batteries don't appeal due to the amount of cutting and trimming required to fit one.

Like Drifter says, Motorworks do an Odyssey battery trimmed to fit the GS - see button at the top of the page or follow this link...

Not cheap, but very good. (and I saved the postage coz they're just up the road from here.)

I guess it..

........would be part number ELA00534 then ? Will order one tomorrow :bounce1
