YET AGAIN IT RAISES ITS HEAD BUT i NEED SOME ADVICE. CHANGED OVER TO A K&N FILTER TODAY AFTER READING THE THREADS ALREADY ON THE SITE HOWEVER, I HAVE A PROBLEM. MY 02 GSA IS GOING LIKE S**T.
CUTTING OUT A LOW SPEEDS AND REVS
VERY JERKY AS THE THROTTLE IS OPENED
BACK-FIRES REGULARLY

BASICALLY I SHOULD HAVE LEFT WELL ALONE. i HAVE PUT THE ORGINAL BACK IN SO I CAN AT LEAST RIDE IT.

QUESTIONS- 1.IS THIS A COMMON FEATURE? (IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WITH MY MILLE.
2 WILL IT CORRECT ITSELF?
3. DOES IT NEED DYNO'D?
ALL VIEWS GRATEFULLY RECEIVED

Hi Badger, I see you've already mailed Steve about his response to my problem. Well it worked for my bike and took less than five minutes to do so it's got to be worth a try.
Another thing that's worth checking is that the throttle cables are sitting inside the adjusters and not on top of them.

From Steves post:

Have you done a motronic/TPS reset ?

Pull fuse 5 (or whichever the Motronic fuse is on the 1100) for about a minute, and then replace.

Switch on ignition (do not start engine)

Fully open and close throttle twice.

Switch off ignition.

See if that makes any difference.

THANKS

WENT OUT TODAY STILL GOING LIKE A PIG AFTER 100 MILES.
NOT RUNNUNG SMOOTHLEY. JERKY ON THE THROTTLE AND DYING AT LOW REVS

HURSTS BMW HERE WE COME UNLESS SOMEONE HAS ANOTHER OPTION

Put the original back in and flog the K&N on ebay :)

A few searches of t'internet will find a fair smattering of discussions on K&N only flowing more air as they stop less crap than the original filter.
PS if your fueling is now incorrect with the K&N you'll likely have less hp than before yours sound excessivley lean (from my internet armchair guesstimate) and I wouldnt want to run the engine like that especially as if it is lean u may melt something expensive.

PS as very rough a quick plug check may give u a clue either way, white = leaner brownto black=rich. PS from experience modern engines seem to run plugs at a very light tan verging on white colour

Good luck
