Can anyone recommend a dealer within 50 miles of Reading to get a K serviced at. Preferably outside of London and to the west, all dealers around this area i.e. Bahnstormer, Vines and South London are charging £99.99 labour per hr:eek:

It's just cost me £255 for a 12k service with an annual on top and the 18K is being quoted at £550:(

I charge £40 per hour based in Caddington (not too far from you) between Luton/dunstable just of A5
an 18k service is the smaller one , cant understand pricing??

Just for the record

Based on your bike being completely upto date with regard to service work, an 18k service with us, which would include valve clearances and new spark plugs and therefore not a small :augie service, would cost 255 of HM Drinking Vouchers

Steve,

The 18k service on the latest K series is a biggie and does include the valve check. I believe they have to drain the coolant to do this and then the new coolant needs to be pressure pumped back into the engine.

service prices

Hi Bob
Thanks for that
it would help if the year of bike was mentioned

Steve

Cheers guys. Vines quoted me £550 for the same reason Bob states, i.e. the radiator removal and valve check. I had mine in with you yesterday for the 12k and forgot to get an answer off Jodie (sic) reference the 18k. And I'd like to mention, other than the bill :( A1 service as usual :thumb

See Bobs quote as to why the 18k is the biggy. I had a K before and remember a similar quote. I changed at 14k;)

Cheers, that reinforces what I've been told already.

Might be :augie On which note, Bob I spoke to SBW reference the second key as Smudger wasn't given it and they deny all knowledge of it, or can't find it. Was it the plastic "master" key or was it a new cut? I was sure and confirmed it yesterday that all BMWs come with 2 keys as new. One "proper" key and the other plastic.

Stu,

You decided to keep the beastie after all!:D

I definitely got 2 metal keys with it, as I had to ask them to get the second because BMW were only supplying the metal and plastic key at the time. As for the plastic key, I think I may have found it. I just need to check it's not the one for my GS and if it's not, then I can send it on to you.

Cheers,

Bob

Edit. I just checked and the plastic key is for the K1200S. If you PM me your address I'll send it off to you.

Glad you got the plastic key Stu, good luck with SBW ref the metal one mate, hope you have more luck than i did!

Hows the bike?

No luck with SBW :(

Bike going well, clocked up nearly 1k already :augie and i'll be putting another 1.5k on this weekend :D ... not bad for less than 5 weeks. By the 5th Aug it'll be due the 18k service, after a run to Italy.

How's the Adv? I have no doubt it'll be in my thoughts on Sat when doing that 1000miles in 24hrs for the British Legion.

What about NOG?

I may be a teeny bit biased here but have you given us a chance to quote you? We are the BMW main dealer in Oxford just off the A34 and don't charge anywhere near £99 per hour. Please give our service manager Matt Tilsley a call on 01865 319000 and I'm sure he will give you a very competitive quote. Loan bike is just £10 per day as well, and if it helps you out I will order you a spare key free of charge. Regards, Phil Davies

The Adv is going well. It's been rested up for the last few weeks, rolled out, polished, rolled back in the garage..:augie

I've done about 250 miles on it so far, but enjoying it!

Take Phil up on his offer mate, i know him and he's a top bloke, really genuine, no hidden agenda's etc, etc. NOG are my favourite dealer, if it hadn't been for the house move i would have bought a new ADV from them, but then you wouldn't have got the 'K', funny old world isn't it?

Steve.

Cheers Phil, I will give him a bell later today. The service won't be required until August, but at least i'll know what to expect.:thumb2

didn't it fall over with shock...I just rode it and squirted it down every now and again :mmmm

"Proper" servicing may be quite important on K1200's.....

I had my K1200GT (2007 MY) 18,000 mile service and annual inspection done at NOG last month. Total cost £282 including a "free" courtesy bike.

Matt's your man.

FREE? Mine wasn't free when they serviced my GSA last month :blast

Seriously tho, you'd be hard pushed to find a more accomodating and friendly dealership :clap
