As title, looking at a used 2006 model.

No abs or esa.

I've never owned a BMW but have heard the esa can be problematic on some models.

Is it an extra I need or is the non abs / esa the one to go for?

Cheers.

In my opinion, no / no ...

On pre-07 bikes, ABS comes with the much maligned servo setup.

This will inevitably fail, when / where is impossible to predict :

A replacement Servo unit cost is £1400 from main dealer.
Fit a second-hand unit for £150, with no guarantee.
Remove Servo ABS unit, retaining the controller module.

Likewise, ESA can be troublesome on an older bike.

I can see the value of ESA on RT or an S where you may take a pillion and luggage.
It is likely that you set up a K12R once, and seldom need to alter those settings.

Keep it simple !
