Hi Guys,
I sold my beloved 05 K12s to a good friend a couple of years and he has loved her dearly but he unfortunately had to park her up for about 6 mths and now she wont start. He's changed the battery and says she's turning over but not firing up. Ive moved up to Mansfield so can't just call round to have a fiddle with her but I am going back down to Wales next weekend and would like to get her up and running for the summer for him. Can anyone suggest any common issues i can take a looky at to try and sort her as I cant see my wife being overly thrilled with me buggering off to tinker with his bike, leaving her with my mam.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. The bike has done 40k and has been garaged on a trickle charger.

Hi I have a k1300gt 09 and only found out a couple of weeks ago about a recall to have a cam chain jump guard fitted now the k1300s is basically the same engine. The cam chain tensioner works on oil pressure to keep tension on the cam chain. Some guys in America have had engine failure due to the cam chain jumping a tooth on the sprocket resulting in the pistons then hitting the valves. When I had mine done two weeks ago I asked the mechanic had he seen any cases of this and he said only one now iam not sure if the k1300s is affected with this but a call to a dealer would soon answer the question hope iam wrong.

Try this link http://rvbprecision.com/ then down the righthand side select motorcycle then look for BMW K1200 S/R/Sport Cam Chain Tensioner Install

Vfrjohn - With all due respect, what's that got to do with the original problem of the bike not starting? He said it was turning over?
