I'm currently on a 2007 1200RT and I'm looking at a 2010 1300GT.

Anyone care to give me the pro's and cons of each?

Thanks in advance.
Rich

I bought a K11300 2010 250miles on the clock.
Great bike on the tarmac, went like a rocket. Could ride it all day and night, never felt fatigued on it at all.
However, I personally found it very heavy, 300Kilos Dry. Fine on the road but pulling off on a bit of rough I found a tad daunting.
Also the heat from the motor! didn't need long socks put it that way.
For my money the gearbox was dreadful, I used to wince putting it in gear. But there all like that sir came the reply.
And on windy days I was aware of sideways breeze trying to push you off course. Big slab of a fairing, but kept you comfy.
Did 6k on it and went back to a GS.
I know couple of lads with them and they are more than happy. Just not for me, subjective view I suppose.
Cheers
James

If you are coming from a Jap multi, it would be familiar.

If coming from a boxer, it would be rapid, efficient and soulless.

I've had mine for 15 months (09 with 7K miles when bought Approved Used, now 12K) - incredibly rapid and well-equipped uber-tourer. Can't see why they introduced the 1600 (not that I've tried one) when the 1300 engine is still in production, but Marketeers rule. 52MPG actual and 158BHP - best of both worlds.

Look at www.eurokclub.bike website for more info and opinions; lots of horror stories are mostly K1200GT. Usual current BMW Product Development cycle; design it, build with cheapest parts and then fix what goes wrong in the hands of owners. (Me, cynical? Surely not!). I'm keeping mine anyway as it does what I want and an LC RT is twice the money and slower :D

I have the Extended Warranty and have had my money back already this year (rear wheel bearing at 10K miles; BMW not interested in goodwill at all - another story). Many people on the above website agree that it is £30/month well spent (with roadside etc.)

R1200RT - rode an LC and was impressed; MUCH lighter but it just felt rough rather than characterful after the K1300. Not sure if quality is any different to a sorted 1300. Liked the keyless system though.

Hope that helps.
