I am trying to remember how i mounted on on my K1200GT.
It was neat. I will dig up some pictures when i get back home next week.

Degsey,

I have the BM one that fits on the underside of the bars, puts the satnav screen in a line between the bar ends IYSWIM.

Just visible in this library pic (NB the bike has a bar riser on it)

It needs 4 screws (M6 IIRC) - £10 posted.

BMW Do One

Hi Degsey,
BMW do a simple (and cheap) one that fits in place of the plastic cover over the captive nuts for the handlebar height adjustment. It puts the sat-nav between the two bars.
I have one fitted to my K1300GT and it's an easy option - although I prefer the sat nav mounted a bit higher - ie above the speedo as it is on my R1150GS.
I can send a pic if thats any help?

OOPS!.................MY TYPING IS WAY TOO SLOW!!!

Blimey, busy post this one.

Grizzly's sounds like the one I have on my K and the spare I'm selling. It has the c.2" square of 4 holes that most kit mounts to, including my ancient NavIII.

Straight off the battery as it is 6" away!

There is a spare factory connector there if you want, used on California models for a smog canister. IIRC it is ignition switched.

HTH.

Yep That's The One

I use a Garmin Zumo 350 and had to drill extra holes in the BMW bracket so the Garmin powered mount would sit centrally on the bike - no real hardship though - I think you could fit any sat nav mount to the BMW bracket fairly easily:thumb

For power, I used the Canbus socket that's meant for sat nav - it's stashed away to the front/right of the battery with a blanking plug in the socket - but you need the special plug and cable tails from BMW etc.

There's a 12V socket by the gear lever but I believe they refer to the spare lead by the headstock as an accessory socket; you'll need the right connector to use it. I'll do more digging to confirm my recollection!

BTW more images of the bracket here. (Slant K1200GT is same as K1300GT).

One of those will be perfect for me

I've had a quick look under the headstock I can't see anything

My nav 5 holder has the BM plug on it

Yep, that's the socket I used - beside the battery - it takes a bit of finding!

Loads of info there now for Degsey - well done A

I may well be about to trade in my K1200. It has the mount and cable for a Garmin Zumo 550. I could remove it fairly easily, I'm sure.

Unless I can find a way to make it fit my F700GS, I wont need it any more. Let me know.
