Looking to put some luggage on my K1300s for the odd flit to work.
It will need to be able to take a Laptop, any suggestions for the most cost effective way to achieve this?

PS I hate top boxes with a passion so that's not a preferred option

I disagree about the size, wife and I did 10 days away on a K1300s standard panniers, they take a surprising amount when expanded ard make no real did difference to the handling.

I had a K1300S for four years, toured many times, i traded it for an RT. The K1300S is probably the best all round bike I ever owned, its only limitation was the OEM luggage, which IMO is crap and small. The RT had fantastic luggage and was more comfortable, but very boring in comparison with the K1300S.

Sports tourer, the clue is in the name, it is a compromise. RT is a tourer, designed for touring.

In an ideal world we would all have several bikes

KTM EXC - off roading
RT - touring
800GS commuting
Sporty something - Sunday blast with mates/trackday

Most people cannot have four bikes so compromise it is, you just need to know which is your bias.

No axe to grind with any panniers, but they do need to be able to take a laptop for work though. I have a 1200gsa for sedate touring with swmbo.

Have you tried a BMW Softbag 3? Can be strapped to pillion seat or the BMW rack.

Depending on the laptop size you may struggle to fit one in the BMW sports panniers, which would offer no protection in the event of a spill.

I have the OEM panniers. I get my 16" laptop in one no problem (with it expanded). But yes if you bin it the laptop will be toast, but that might be the least of your worries!

For my commute (50 miles) into Oxford I use a rucksack - keeps the width down for the filter squeeze.:D

Ogio hard shell so it doesn't flap about, opens from the strap side only (so you don't leave a trail of stuff along the road) and water proof.

I know you don't like top boxes but I have just adapted the Vairo mounting plate and have fitted a GS Vairo top box onto my K1300s. It was an easy modification and looks very smart.
