K16

Good idea to wait until your wife is fully well and, not least, until you've got a decent holiday journey ahead of you.

The 1600 is not a cheap bike to buy nor to run, not least in the tyre department. 10-1 says that come December thro' February 2017 there'll be some good discounts around and / or some secondhand bikes up for a very decent saving. The rumour of a new Goldwing might spur some price cutting, too.

Have some more test rides (not least as they are free) and see what you make of the bike. Be sure and only then buy.

Yip, that's the way forward.

Thanx again to everyone for your input.

Well, I had a K16 GTL booked for the day on Saturday whilst my GSA was in for her service. The plan was for Sarah to come with me but she decided against it, for various reasons too dull to go into on here.
Just as well she didn't come as I got to the dealers just in time to see the bike I'd booked for the day being picked up & ridden away by it's proud new owner. I have no issue with this, it was there to be sold but it might have been nice if they'd told me in advance as it was sold the week before.
In the end I was given an F700 instead and a cracking little bike it is too, despite a screen that's too small & an uncomfortable seat.

Things did become clearer on the K16 front though as I was talking to the Sales manager who told me that the K16 is only any good on Autobahns, it's okay on A roads, not very good on twisties & terrible in town, apparently.
He also went on to explain how little profit they make on a £2,000 mark up on trade-in bikes, I honestly hadn't realised what a favour they were doing us by buying our bikes off us & selling them on, goodness knows how they stay in business.
I've dealt with this bloke when he was at a previous dealer & I didn't warm to him then either (to say the least).

When I say things have become clearer, what I mean is I'm ignoring anything he said and won't be doing any deals with him at any point.
The sales lad, however, is excellent so I wouldn't rule out using the dealer, just any involvement with their new man. :thumb2

I never even consider my wife when purchasing a bike,

but the bike she loves is the Moto Guzzi convert,

mainly because the seat is all day comfortable, no helmet kissing when changing gear, and best of all for her, I love to waft along at 50's and 60's riding it,

meaning there is less wind blast and more sightseeing.

My K16 is going on a European trip in 2 weeks, if I don't sell it first, will let you know how I get on in the twistys

A lot to be said for the latter half of your post

You'll have a blast, in my experience they're great fun in the twisties. :thumb2

Another holiday? :clap

You're right to ignore him - what a load of cobblers. Town riding is actually excellent (especially if you take the panniers off - it makes it very narrow) and getting both plates-of-meat on the ground is a bonus (one reason why commuting into London on the 1150GSA was a bit of a pain - being on tip-toe at every traffic-light) and having just gone through the Vosges on 'Dynamic' and 'Sport' I can assure you that it handles through the twisties extremely well... pah! Who wants to sell BMWs anyway?

Ha, I know exactly what you mean
