K1600 update in 2026?

The German Motorrad & Reisen magazine, is reporting that an updated 1600 is undergoing road testing in France. The rumoured changes include:

A redesigned frontal area, to include radar assistance, presumably linked to the cruise control.

Redesigned (presumably improved) infotainment and communications.

The radio and functions are a joke - but this, to me seems money wasted.
As if nothing has been learned by the car division.
You make CarPlay and auto android function spot on and leave it there.

As for the stupid phone cubby ……..

The article doesn’t suggest that CarPlay will not be introduced. It is similarly silent on what the redesigned frontal area will look like.

If the front end redesign does incorporate the radar -
A rare moment of truth in today’s world …… as that’s always been stated as the reason why it’s not currently fitted.

Let’s hope the new 1600 is not as ugly as the 1300 GSA or RT, although I don’t find that as bad as the GSA.

Who needs speakers on a bike these days when we have Bluetooth Cardo, etc, which provides a far better sound than speakers. And as already mentioned, that stupid cubby hole for the phone, and whilst I remember, those stupid panniers, wtf, I couldn’t believe that the massive panniers seem to hold sod all because they are double skinned, what a waste of space.
Other than that, I liked it. lol.

BMW panniers will hold a full face helmet and that's way better than most other makes, and they have been double skinned for many years now.
