This week I have had a problem with the Ohlins shock on the front of the 1150GSA, namely the seal went and it sprung an oily leak
Still, after 10 years and 35k, it's has done sterling service - so no complaints there
I originally bought it from KAIS in Manchester in 2005
I called them yesterday and they said they'd service it today, so took the shock in for 8.30am, setting off early this morning for a 2 hours drive
Just as I remembered it, in downtown Atherton............had a bit of craic and they said leave it with us, it'll be done by lunch - as dad (Andy) comes in at 10am and he'll sort it
Now Andy is now a spritely 72 years young and is the Ohlins guru, with 40+ years experience and still spends most of his weeks/weekends at race tracks setting up bikes for BSB/WSB riders - so it was nice to get him to do it, for me as he still remembered me despite an intervening 10 year gap
So while the spanners were being twirled I went over to ABW for a look-see - another great bunch of down to earth and enthusiastic lads - shame I missed Gaz
Coming back for the shock - all done and looking spot on, Andy showed me around his place - very proud of the family business he has created and they spend a fair bit of time working on MX bikes and road bikes with suspension technology
The workshop is fab and like a clinic - the suspension workshop has a shock/fork dyno so each shock is tested after a rebuild, to make sure it's tip top
Great service at short notice and all the work was carried out spot on, all with a friendly craic and banter
Fully recommended - these are the suspension guys, who do a great job, at a very reasonable price too
