Has anybody fitted or have experience with the Kappa F800 GS engine protection bars?

If so I welcome your opinions, cheers!

Yeah, I have the Givi that were on the bike when I bought it... I assume they're the same? IMHO, they're quite good: from experience they work. They stick out enough to protect your engine fine. My gripe is the bolt joining the two sides in front of the headers rattles like crazy and is bloody annoying. I've wrapped it twice in tape and need to wrap it again. I am looking to upgrade to the Wild@Heart Crash Bars. They still have some good protection around the engine but they are much higher up so protect the fairing too, unfortunately they're expensive.

Why do you assume that Givi are the same as Kappa, Stephen? Is it a case of the same brand are licensed under different names dependent on which market they serve?

I think there was some split that resulted in the two companies. But Givi and Kappa luggage is identical... so I think the crash bars probably are too?

After my last last question I immediately set about googling and have learnt that " Kappa are the same fit as GIVI and sometimes look similar as they are made by a sister company (actually, the daughter of GIVI founder owns Kappa). Kappa however is not quite same quality. A GIVI case feels sturdier and is more robust." Not a lot of people know that....perhaps!

Ok thanks for your help. The Kappas I've seen look quite neat but am having second thoughts on the quality now.

+4 And they wont rattle and all fitting are stainless and lastly they will last ages if not dropped , theres always some popping up on her for 100 to 130.

Im really pleased with mine

Steve

Well that all looks pretty unanimous!

Reason I asked is because I saw the Kappa bars (new) @ £79.00 and thought WOW , cheap or what? Now, whilst I have no intention of dropping the F8 and generally try not to think of doing such either, I am well aware that that doesn't mean it's never going to happen. This in turn had me thinking... would the Kappa range be tested beyond their capabilities if the worst should happen, especially on the basis that you only get what you pay for!

I guess at that price they could well be chocolate bars!

I would avoid crash bars mounted on the engine.
Go for crash bars only mounted on the frame.

Reply to mediamark yup easy to fit , You do need a long torqx for the side bolts , I bought one locally for £4.
In all even without instruction cos mine were second hand off her they took about 45 mins with instructions under 30.
