Keeping Insurance valid after bike sale

I know they tell you about amendment charges, some make a point of telling they don’t have any. However, to end a policy I’m not so sure it should apply, let’s face it it’s in everyone’s interests to ensure everything is as it should be. There’s also the fact that many are not aware of the possible implications of a claim after you’ve sold a vehicle and just think, why pay 40-50 quid when I can just let it run.
Some very sharp practises within the industry that do warrant closer scrutiny.

There’s some pretty ‘sharp practices’ from all sides. See the thread on the fellow attaching a youth without a licence, to his policy, as it was free and the bike would not ping up as uninsured on a check. See those who lie about their address and even which country the bike is in. See those who lie about who will be driving the vehicle most often and / or its business use. See those who fraudulently claim for whiplash or stage crashes, see those who lie about modifications or spend hours debating with some chimp as to whether changing the oil is a modification from standard. See the intermediary who generated a false registration plate, to maintain a no claims bonus, in effect insuring a non-existent vehicle.

Being unaware of the potential implications of not cancelling is not a valid excuse. But, if anyone thinks it might be, they can debate it at length through the courts, which will cost them more than the £50 they saved. Of course the chances of it ever coming to it are very slim but so is the chance of encountering a biker-unfriendly hotelier in Germany….. and some bods worry about that all day every day.

Few years ago I had to see a specialist about a whiplash injury and associated issues I was experiencing. Doctor was really offish with me and disinterested. He asked me what vehicle had hit me?
“None, I fell off my pushbike, landed on my neck and shoulder, no other vehicle involved.”

Jumped up from his chair,” that makes a change, right let’s have a look at what’s going on” 😳
